A staged reading is much more than actors just reading from a script.

At Theatre 33, actors spend about 20 hours in rehearsal, with some blocking and effects added to bring the play to life. Combined with the audience’s imagination, it creates a wonderfully immersive experience.

And there are just two staged readings left in this year’s Summer Festival.

Majnun by Layli Rohani — 2 p.m. today, Aug 15
Prodigies by Brook Bethel — 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug 16

Come see what can happen when talented actors, a new script, and an audience build the world together. Tix: www.theatre33.org

PS: Prodigies has already been booked for a world premiere full production on the East Coast!

A major component of our Summer Series is the development of new plays, and part of that process is audience feedback.

Following each show, attendees are encouraged to share their thoughts about what resonated, what raised questions, and what they’re still thinking about. That feedback goes right to the playwrights as they continue to shape and revise their work.

It’s one of the things that makes new-play development so exciting: the audience isn’t just watching the process. You’re part of it.
