A cork forest is more than a place where wine corks begin.

These forests are some of the most biodiverse landscapes in the Mediterranean, supporting hundreds of plant and animal species. They are home to rare wildlife like the Iberian Lynx and the Spanish Imperial Eagle.

Protecting cork forests means protecting entire ecosystems that have evolved alongside these remarkable trees.

Every natural cork helps support the preservation of these landscapes.

From Earth to space, cork continues to prove it belongs wherever performance matters most.
For NASA’s Artemis II mission, natural cork is once again playing a critical role. Integrated into the spacecraft’s thermal protection system cork helps shield vital components from the extreme temperatures of launch and reentry.
What makes this moment extraordinary is what cork represents: a natural, renewable material transformed through engineering into a high-performance solution capable of withstanding some of the most extreme conditions known to science.
Lightweight, resilient, insulating, and sustainable, cork is helping protect astronauts as they journey farther into deep space than ever before.
From the cork oak forests of the Portugal to the edge of the Moon and back, this is innovation rooted in nature and trusted in the most mission-critical environments imaginable.
Proof that one of Earth’s most sustainable materials is also one of its most versatile.

What’s in your bottle matters more than you think. 🍷🌍
Your cork plays a role in how your wine ages, tastes, and impacts the planet. But only one comes straight from nature.
Harvested without cutting down a single tree, natural cork is renewable, biodegradable, and supports thriving ecosystems for generations to come. It’s a small detail with a lasting impact.
Choose the closure that gives back. 🌿

Earth Day, the natural way. 🌍
Choosing natural cork goes beyond the bottle, it’s a choice that supports the planet, people, and everyday well-being.

🌱 For the Planet – Cork oak forests naturally regenerate, capturing CO₂ and protecting some of the world’s most biodiverse landscapes.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For Communities – Harvested by hand, cork supports local economies and preserves generations of craftsmanship.

❤️ For Living Well – Clean, renewable, and free from harmful chemicals, cork is a material you can feel good about.

Small choices add up. This Earth Day, choose materials that give back. 🌿

Sustainable, renewable, and rooted in nature. Cork is more than a closure, it’s a climate-conscious choice. 🌿
Harvested from the bark of cork oak trees without ever cutting them down, natural cork supports healthy forest ecosystems that absorb carbon, protect biodiversity, and sustain rural communities for generations.
When you choose cork, you’re choosing a material that gives back more than it takes. From vineyard to bottle, it’s a small detail with a big impact.

In Southern Africa, cork-based infill is being used to create high-performance rugby fields that prioritize both athlete safety and environmental impact.

Compared to traditional synthetic infills, cork offers:
• Lower surface temperatures
• Natural shock absorption
• Zero microplastics
• Full recyclability

The result is a playing surface that supports performance while aligning with broader sustainability goals.

As industries continue to explore circular and bio-based materials, cork is proving to be a viable solution well beyond its traditional applications.

What if waste wasn’t the end of the story… but the beginning of something better?

At Expo 2025 Osaka, designers like Cooloo are rethinking materials from the ground up—turning recycled cork into beautiful, functional furniture.

Through innovative processes, used cork stoppers are transformed into durable surfaces for seating, tables, and interiors—giving new life to materials that would otherwise be discarded.

It’s a powerful reminder that sustainability isn’t just about reducing impact.
It’s about reimagining what materials can become.

Cork doesn’t just come from nature. It keeps giving back to it. Read more about the Endless Life technology on our website: https://naturalcorkcouncil.org/blog-all-things-cork

Most people recycle the bottle. Fewer think about the cork.

Natural cork is renewable and recyclable. Cork oak trees are harvested every 9–12 years without cutting down the tree, and the same tree can continue producing cork for more than 200 years.

Even in production, almost nothing goes to waste—cork dust powers factories, and larger pieces are reused to make new cork products.

After the celebration, natural corks can be recycled too. Programs like have already collected more than 130 million natural wine corks and turned them into new materials.
