Fulton County Hospital Foundation awarded $500 scholarships to three recent high school graduates who are pursuing careers in the medical field.

Rachel Dearth graduated from Salem High School in May. She studies nursing at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

Daniel Haley graduated from Izard County Consolidated High School in May. He will attend the University of Arkansas in the fall to study sports medicine.

Allison Webber graduated from Highland High School in May. She will attend Arkansas State University in the fall to study pre-med biology.

Applications for next year’s scholarship program will be available through high school counselor’s offices in April.

Fulton County Hospital Foundation is accepting applications for its scholarship program.

Applicants must plan to pursue a career in the medical field. In addition to submitting the scholarship application, they must submit their high school transcript and three letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, employers, ministers or community leaders.

The application is available through school counselors. It must be mailed to the Fulton County Hospital Foundation; PO Box 7; Salem, AR 72576; and must be postmarked by April 14, 2023.

⚠️ Update ⚠️ — The event is postponed until fall. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to gathering to support the hospital in a few months.

Fulton County Hospital will host its first Passion For Caring Fun Run/Walk at the Salem City Park at 8 a.m. April 29.

All ages are welcome to participate in the event, the proceeds of which will go toward needed hospital equipment.

Entry fee is $25. Those who register before April 10 are guaranteed an event T-shirt. People may register by visiting North Arkansas Family Clinic located behind the hospital Monday through Thursday or by mailing their name, shirt size and phone number, along with a $25 check, to Fulton County Hospital; Passion For Caring Fun Run/Walk; PO Box 517; Salem, AR 72576. Volunteers at Salem, Viola and Mammoth Spring schools also are gathering registration fees for students and employees that will be picked up by April 11.

The entry fee also can be paid at registration the day of the event; however, only a limited number of T-shirts will be available.

The run/walk will not be timed, but the lap length will be marked.

Current sponsors of the fun run/walk include: Bank of Salem, Elite Home Health, FNBC, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, North Arkansas Family Clinic and Tri-County Medical Supply.

Fulton County Hospital Foundation board members presented hospital administrators with a $10,000 donation in November. The money will go toward signage and grounds maintenance for the Salem hospital.
