A cursed road? Many roads around the world have sections where the number of accidents seems to be way above average. Here in Salem, Oregon, there is a section of Center Street NE that seems to be cursed. The 4100 to 4500 blocks have had a number of car accidents, several seeming to be one-car accidents without a clear reason. Also, this section of road has claimed more animals to cars than any area around it. This past week two cats were killed in the 4100 block close to one another three days apart. The five blocks have claimed at least seven cats in the past two years, including one of my own. Similar sections of the city for the same period have zero to two cats lost. This part of Center Street is not nearly as busy as those closer to the center of town. Add the number of squirrels, opossums, skunks and birds, and this section has been hazardous to our animal friends. With the car accidents and animals killed, could this area be cursed?

We've gone through a tragic fire and have lost most of our original documents, old magazines and newspaper clippings, computer files, videos and our library of rare books. We don't know how we are going to be able to continue. Will let you know more later this year when we have a new home.

This will be our last post for some time, perhaps months. Economics have cost us internet access, which will go off in the next few days. Best wishes to you all and hope to see you again before the end of the year! Keep asking questions and keep wondering about the world around you...
