The best time to put plants in the ground is in the morning on cloudy days. Seedlings do not appreciate the stress of full sun, even if they’ve been hardened off. Today was a perfect day to get our hands dirty 😃

As of this afternoon we have 84 veggie plants in! We’re getting there! 😃

Tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers have been planted. Beans, snap peas, okra, collards, brussel sprouts, onions, zucchini, 4 more types of squash, cantaloupe, watermelon, pumpkins, lettuce, cabbage, radishes and herbs will be planted this week. 👀😃🌱

Our employees did such a great job last year with our little garden that we decided to take a leap of faith and grow not only for us on a much larger scale…but also for Aging Best and Sacred Heart Catholic Church! We are so very grateful for our community partners!

These happy little tomato plants need homes!! They’ve been in our foster care long enough so come on out and adopt them for just $3 each 😃😃😃

🍅🌱🍅🌱🍅We will be set up at 8am tomorrow at the Salem farmers market to raise funds to purchase kitchen appliances for our new location!

We will have the following starter tomato plants available for just $3/each:

PLUS with each purchase you’ll receive a FREE fire starter! That’s what we’ve been making with the donations of old candles! These handy dandies are perfect for campfires, just in time for summer fun! 😃🏕️🔥

On the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month our local Catholic Church provides our community with a delicious home cooked meal.

Before we head inside, we are led in prayer by one of our faithful employees, Tom G. This tradition is one we cherish, look forward to…and are forever grateful for ❤️

Today we bowed our heads and prayed for the wife of the truck driver from one of our local customers who is facing a serious medical diagnosis.

Please join us in praying for her, it would mean the world to us…and them ❤️

Finished the wildflower area and added a hummingbird feeder!

Started putting tomatoes and peppers in the ground!

We are looking for donations of straw to use as mulch, if you have any old bales you’re not going to use laying around we would love to take them off your hands. Of course, we would pick them up too! 😃🍅🌱

Spreading wildflower seeds along the vegetable plot to help bring pollinators to the field. Next week the tomatoes that were started on racks under grow lights will be moved outside for a few hours each day to “ harden off” before we move them out to the new location!

Soil…Rain…Inspiration is coming to life!

Look who the recycling crew found hiding in the cardboard! Squeeeee!!!

This handsome fella is a harmless Speckled Kingsnake. Fun fact: they are immune to the venom of pit vipers so they will actively hunt and eat venomous snakes like copperheads, cottonmouths and rattlesnakes!

After exchanging pleasantries, we returned him to nature where he belongs 😃
