Once again it is Christmastime in the City. Kick off your holiday festivities with good cheer and good times with your friends and family touring some of Salem’s most beautiful homes Our 2023 tour features North Salem on North Street, Buffum, Dearborn, Lee, Moulton and Felt Streets. Musicians entertain at some homes, all of which are beautifully decorated for the holidays.

I need to step down from chairing Friends of Furlong Park and would like someone to replace me. Duties are light: work with SalemSound CoastWatch to organize two park clean up annually (one in November and one in April or May). They provide most of the volunteers and equipment. Also generally keep an eye on the park and if something is broken report it to the city for repairs. If you would like to learn more/take over the job, please contact me in the comments below. Spring 2022 Furlong Park cleanup is scheduled for Sat. May 14 from 9 - 12N. Thank you and shout out to Kristen Homeyer of SalemSound Coast Watch for getting the ball rolling on this. Please plan to swing by for an hour or two and bring the kids, children helpers are very much encouraged.

If you need an excuse for a walk please consider walking along the North River with a bag and picking up pieces of styrrofoam which washed ashore during our recent storms. The stryrofoam degrades into smaller pieces and never actually breaks down. Lets get rid of it!

Salem's traffic commission will discuss traffic calming via ZOOM regarding Franklin, Osbourne, Moulton and Orchard Streets on Thursday, Aug. 19th. Please be sure to mark your calendars to attend this meeting as it is very difficult to get in front of these boards; a lot of effort was put into arranging this meeting. Please take time to familiarize and prioritize traffic problems along the four streets above and Furlong Park, The Little League field and pedestrian commuter routes.

Sat. July 3. Decorated kid's bike parade is still happening this morning (Sat.) at 10 AM at the pavilion at Furlong Park (thanks to one crazee Mom and one crazee Ward Councilor). Its a chance to get the kids of out of the house! See you there!

Do any parents want to work together to plan a decorated bike/scooter/carriage parade to celebrate Independence Day on Sat. July 3rd at 10 AM? Note that rain cancels.

Does anyone have "contractor buckets" and/or trash grabbers I can borrow for tomorrow, Sat. 4/23, clean up of Furlong Park. I will return them on Sat. afternoon or Sunday, if you lend them to me please write your name on the bucket/grabbers. Thanks in advance. Don't forget to stop down to Furlong Park on Sat. 4/24 to help or just say hello. Families who participate will receive a seed packet.
