Brothers,

You are warmly invited to join us on Wednesday, December 17th, at 6:30 pm as we confer the Entered Apprentice Degree upon a new candidate who seeks further light in Masonry. This is an important moment in his Masonic journey, and a strong turnout from the Brethren will help create a meaningful and memorable experience.

A pizza dinner will be provided before the degree work begins. We ask the Brethren to bring a dessert to contribute to the festive board.

Your presence, support, and fraternal spirit strengthen the Lodge and uphold the traditions of our Craft. We look forward to assembling together in harmony.

RSVP would be nice...

Fraternally,
WB Anthony Chase

Salem Lodge No. 4 proudly honors our veterans on this Veterans Day. We are deeply grateful for the Brothers among us who have served our nation with courage, dedication, and sacrifice. Their commitment to duty, honor, and integrity reflects the very principles of Freemasonry. Today, we salute them—not only as Masons, but as heroes who have defended the freedoms we all cherish.

Brothers,

Once again, the Great Architect of the Universe has blessed us with the privilege and opportunity to serve our community. This season, we continue our tradition of supporting Brush College Elementary School by providing Thanksgiving Food Boxes for families in need.

Our Pro Tempore Worshipful Master, Brother Alex Sims, has set a goal of ten or more food boxes. By working together and taking advantage of WinCo’s annual Turkey Promotion (spend $125 and receive a free turkey), we can make this goal a reality, but only with the help and generosity of each Brother.

We are asking every member to contribute as their cable-tow permits. Please bring one or more of the following non-perishable items** to Wednesday’s Stated Communication Meeting.

Canned / Jar Goods

* Corn
* Green Beans
* Peas
* Sweet Potatoes
* Spam or Canned Meat
* Cranberry Sauce
* Gravy
* Soups (Chicken, Mushroom, Tomato, etc.)
* Other similar canned or jarred items are also welcome.

Dry Goods

* Instant Potatoes
* Stuffing Mix
* Cornbread Mix
* Pasta
* Gravy Packets
* Dried Beans
* Rice
* Other shelf-stable dry items are appreciated.

With your assistance, we can exceed our goal and extend a helping hand to more families within our community, a true example of Masonic charity and brotherly love in action.

Please remember to save and submit your receipts for recordkeeping purposes.

Together, let us continue to be a light in our community, serving with compassion, humility, and gratitude.

Brethren, I’d like to take a moment to mention the Torchlight Program, one of Oregon Freemasonry’s most respected educational studies. It’s designed to help Master Masons gain a deeper understanding of our Craft by studying six core Masonic documents, followed by a 250 question open book examination that challenges both our knowledge and reflection on Masonic principles.

I’ve personally taken the Torchlight test twice and found it to be an enlightening experience , one that truly strengthens a Mason’s understanding of our teachings and traditions.

I believe that our lodge should set standards for all elected officers (WM, SW, JW, Treasurer & Secretary) to have taken the Torchlight prior of being elected and all appointed officers (SD, JD, SS, JS, Music, Chap, Tyler, &Marshall) in the process during their year.

I am always available for study if any Master Mason brother is interested.

Out of curiosity, how many of you have completed the Torchlight Program 250 question test yourselves?
And do you think, as a lodge we should have this standard for all of our officers?
