Hope Station Community Services, Inc.

Hope Station Community Services, Inc. Hope Station helps individuals and families in the community who are working, yet struggling financially. Who Do We Serve? These are the people we want to help.

The Working-in-Need: Those who enter the program are working individuals and families who are struggling to meet their monthly expenses. These people make too much for governmental assistance but not enough to pay all their bills. Many organizations are targeting individuals and families who make below the State poverty line. These families have help from a variety of of resources, but those who

earn more, don’t have the same opportunities. Also, sometimes the system enables people to continue on welfare, without empowering them to improve their lives. By asking the people we serve to pay a small monthly fee and volunteer some of their time, we are encouraging responsibility and a sense of ownership. Our desire is to provide a hand up, not a hand out.

Addiction is an (Adverse Childhood Experience) that often co-exists with others. The more ACEs a child experiences, the greater the concern. But it doesn't have to be that way. With support and services, children at risk can become children of promise.

Sandbagging Sites Established in Salem - 11/19/12
Due to the possibility of local flooding occurring over the next few days, the City of Salem Public Works Department has set up three temporary satellite sandbagging locations as follows:

* Lowe's Home Improvement Center-1930 Turner Road SE
* Courthouse Athletic Club-6250 Commercial Street SE
* Salem Chinese Evangelical Church-6836 Sunnyside Road SE

As always, sand and sandbags are available at the City's Operations Division Complex located at 1420 20th Street SE.

Salem residents can also help prevent local flooding when heavy rains and lots of leaves combine to clog the storm drains. Simply rake leaves that have fallen in the street to the lower side of the storm drains. This helps prevent clogging until City street-sweeping crews come to your neighborhood.

Please report any local flooding or down trees to Salem Public Works Dispatch at 503-588-6333.

Today was a great day at Hope Station and it was a deep sense of sadness that I said goodbye to this season of my life. I will miss everyone there. The participants have all been a great inspiration to me and confirmed my belief that their is greatness in all people for God is among us and in us. The staff well that is really the hard part....I have come to love and respect each one and will miss our times together. I loved the comforter and will remember with fondness and comfort my time at Hope Station.

Keep walking out the call of God to minister to the working person who needs just a bit of help to make it and do not grow weary in well doing, for it is God and God alone who supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory.....blessings and love....Pastor Diane Reynolds
