Shelly's House of Salem

Providing safe, drug-free transitional housing for women offenders at risk of homelessness. Shelly's House, Inc.

provides transitional drug-free housing and services to female offenders who are currently supervised by Marion County. The program provides transitional house for up to 16 women. Referrals come from Marion County, Parole and Probation, Marion County Adult Corrections Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, or other local community alcohol/drug treatment programs.

On the last Saturday of each month we get a delicious meal and game night with volunteers from Capital Baptist Church. At that time we also give quilts donated by various groups the the newest women in the house. Thank you volunteers and welcome to Shelly's House ladies.

These 3 amazing women did community service work at the Water Street Community Garden in Silverton today. They were a big help getting the street side pollinator's garden cleaned up. A big thank you, ladies.

It's that time of year again! Starting April 15th, Shelly's House is participating in BottleDrop Give! We are fundraising by asking for and collecting bottles and cans. If you would like to donate please select "Shelly's House" when dropping off your bottles and cans at your local BottleDrops Redemption Center. If you need us to come pick up your cans/bottles please let us know. The fundraiser ends on April 26th. For every donation, Shelly's will receive a 20% match from BottleDrop. Thank you in advance! Every can and bottle helps!

We met a woman named Sarah at the Alternative Market back in December. It is intended to be a fundraiser but we call it a friendraiser. Sarah asked if the women at Shelly's House of Salem would be interested in learning how to write poetry. Yes, there were many interested women. Sarah came to the house last weekend with journals and instructional criteria for the women. They had a great time and wrote some really good poems. Thank you Sarah for your interest in sharing your talents with these beautiful women of Shelly's House.

We recently voted in our newest board member. She isn't new to Shelly's House though.....drumroll please......our newest board member is Suzanne Chavarria!!!

Suzanne was born in Salem and comes from a large family. She has three full-siblings and eight half-siblings. She has lived in North Dakota, California, Idaho, Washington, Montana and Minnesota. Her favorite place that she has ever visited is the Badlands in South Dakota because of all of the buffalo.

Suzanne first moved into Shelly's House in February of 2022. After a relapse and a brief time in rehab, she moved back into Shelly's House in July of 2022. Suzanne moved up to be the house manager in December of 2023. Suzanne graduated from Marion County Drug Court this past year.

Suzanne has four children and has been with her significant other, Eric, since 2019. Her favorite food is seafood. Her dream vacation would be to Hawaii to swim with turtles. She has a cat named Itty Bitty who patrols the Shelly's House grounds and sometimes joins us for board meetings. When asked what her favorite thing about Shelly's House was, she said, "the women, the camaraderie."

Shelly's House would not be what it is today without Suzanne. Suzanne is the backbone of Shelly's House. She speaks her mind but has a heart of gold. She also doesn't shy away from holding the Shelly's House residents to a high standard. We appreciate you so much! Welcome to the Board!!!!

Happy New Year!

Every month, Shelly's House highlights one of their Board of Director members. This month we are highlighting Eric LeDoux. Eric has been on the board since the summer of 2025. He was born in upstate New York in 1983. His family moved to the Sacramento area when he was just a baby. His parents, two sisters, brother and a baby Eric drove across the country from New York to Sacramento in a Chevy Luv pick-up. When asked how that was possible, Eric grins and says that "it had a canopy and it was the 80's." :)

Eric grew up in the Sacramento area. He admittedly did not make the best life choices and ended up incarcerated for a bit of time. He moved to Medford in 2008. In Medford, he went to community college and earned his associates degree in Diesel Technology. After receiving his associates degree, he moved to Salem.

Eric moved into Soaring Heights on October 15, 2023. He is currently the House Lead there. He also works at Habitat for HumanRestore. Eric has three children - two daughters and a son. Eric's hobbies include work and more work. When pressed, he states that his hobbies include "video games, camping and again work." Eric's favorite food is bacon and pepperoni pizza with white sauce. His favorite place that he has visited is Bremerton, Washington. Eric is the significant other of Shelly's House wonderful Manager, Suzanne.

Eric is the perfect example of a man who has completely changed his life around to be a contributing member of society. He has worked hard to get to this point and he is making the most out of every opportunity that is given to him.

Shelly's House is extraordinarily fortunate to have Eric on our Board of Directors. Thank you Eric!

Shelly's House celebrated Christmas early this past weekend. We had a delicious meal, talked about what we are grateful for this past year, and gave gifts to all of the amazing ladies in the home. Thank you to all of our community partners who made Saturday so special!

The women attended the Alternative Christmas Market last weekend. We raised some money and raised awareness for Shelly's House. Way to go!

We had fun making ornaments for our table at the Alternative Christmas Market this coming weekend. We'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Stop by to see us and get yourself a handmade ornament. Everyone needs a Chistmas Spider or gumball machine on their tree. ❤️

Greetings all!

Shelly's House is participating in a fundraiser through BottleDrop. If you have any bottles or cans that you could part with please let us know!!!! Funds raised through collecting bottles and cans will receive a 20% match through BottleDrop! You need a special bag with our sticker attached to ensure that we get our funding.

This fundraiser ends on December 2, 2025. Please let us know if you can help us! We can get you a bag (with our sticker) or you can just drop off the cans/bottles at Shelly's House.
