Check out this Hybrid Tea Rose "How to Deadhead" Video!
Joe McNally, city horticulturalist, walks us through the process from cleaning your pruners, to finding the appropriate leaflet to deadhead to. We have also posted a video for Floribunda/Grandiflora Roses.

If you are inspired by this video and would like to volunteer in the rose garden, Mission Street Parks Conservancy with the City of Salem Parks and Rec Department manages the Adopt-a-Rosebed program at Bush's Pasture Park. Over half of the eligible rosebeds have been adopted by volunteers who regularly tend their bed by deadheading and w**ding on a weekly basis. Email [email protected] if you are interested!

Our rosebushes are filled with blooms and have never looked better! Many thanks to the adopters, the Rosarians, the Tuesday Gardeners, and the city staff for all the hard work!!!

Thanks to all the wonder volunteers, vendors, and customers who supported our plant sale this past weekend. With all of you, we raised money for projects in Bush's Pasture Park. Jim Schomaker's photos here show some of the lovely landscaped beds we've been working on, the Woodland Garden, and such pretty blossoms that have busted out recently...and it isn't even June!

The Tuesday Gardeners celebrated their end of the season yesterday with a pizza party at the Annex at the Salem Art Association. We've averaged over 25 volunteers each Tuesday during the season which I'm sure is an organization high!!! We love all our volunteers whether you come just a few times a year or every week. Every w**d you pull, every wheelbarrow of mulch you push, every plant you plant or water...it's one less job that someone else doesn't have to do. It's certainly a team effort and we sure have the best team!!! Here are a few photos from our party featuring not only Tuesday Gardeners but some of the park employees and the Monday Rosarians who were working on Tuesday. Our beautiful park is so much better for ALL the folks who work in it.

If you've been thinking about volunteering with us, our winter hiatus is a great time to join because we often meet for coffee on Tuesday mornings and laugh and get to know each other better. We will also have the occasional work day when the weather is gentle. Please email [email protected] to let us know you are interested!
