💚 Today our team showed up — in green and in spirit — for Mental Health Awareness Month.

Staff across NWHS wore green and took to the sidewalk with messages of hope in English, Spanish, and Russian — because support should reach everyone.

At Northwest Human Services, mental health care isn't just what we do — it's who we are. We provide behavioral health, psychiatry, crisis services, and community-based support because no one should have to face hard days alone.

If you or someone you know needs support, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7. Call or text 988.

Thank you to the Mid-Valley Su***de Prevention Coalition for providing the Signs of Hope! đź’š

We had such a great time showing the Oregon Department of Human Services communications and web teams around our West Salem Clinic! It means a lot when partners take the time to come see the work our teams do every day. Thanks for the visit and the kind words 🤝

đź’Ş New Community Partner! đź’Ş

We’re excited to welcome Planet Fitness as a new partner in our Together We Can (TWC) program! 🎉

Through TWC, young adults in our HOST program gain real‑world work experience while partnering with local businesses to collect and redeem bottles and cans. This builds job skills and supports their path toward stability and independence.

Huge thanks to the team at Planet Fitness for supporting local youth and helping make this work possible. đź’ś
Together, we can make a difference.

This artwork tells a story of transformation.

Created by “D,” a participant in our HOST Transitional Living Program, it reflects his journey from living on the streets to building a future filled with stability and possibility.

After connecting with our HOST Resource Center, D spent time engaging with staff before choosing to enter the 18-month Transitional Living Program, a space where young adults can focus on employment, life skills and long-term housing.

Through art, D makes sense of his world. In this piece, he captures the shift from survival to something more — having a job, gaining independence and beginning to dream again.

Programs like HOST exist for moments like this. Because every young person deserves the chance not just to get by, but to move forward.

Community Health Alert: Measles Exposure in Salem

Oregon health officials have confirmed potential measles exposure at two Salem-area healthcare locations.

If you were at the following locations during these times, you may have been exposed:

• Salem Health Emergency Department: March 16, 6:10–8:30 p.m.
• Kaiser Permanente Skyline Medical Office: March 13, 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

Measles spreads easily through the air and can linger for up to two hours after an infected person leaves. Symptoms can appear 7–21 days after exposure and may include:

• Fever
• Cough
• Runny nose
• Red eyes
• Rash (typically starting on the face)

What to do:
If you think you’ve been exposed or are experiencing symptoms, call your healthcare provider before visiting in person to help prevent further spread.

At Northwest Human Services, we are here to support our community’s health and safety. If you have questions or need care, please reach out to our team.

Today on International Women’s Day, we recognize and celebrate the women who strengthen our communities every day.

At Northwest Human Services, women lead, heal, advocate, and support others across every part of our organization — from clinical care and outreach to counseling and community programs.

Their dedication helps create healthier, stronger communities for everyone.

Thank you to the women of Northwest Human Services and to the many women in our community who inspire this work every day.

Thank you to Plaid Pantry and their customers for supporting Northwest Human Services through their December Charity Drive.

Through register round-ups, donation slips, and vendor contributions, nearly $2,500 will support our HOST program here in Salem.

We are grateful to Plaid Pantry and everyone who chose to round up and give back. Community support like this makes a real difference for the neighbors we serve.

We honor the legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson, whose lifelong advocacy for civil rights and economic justice continues to shape conversations about equity and opportunity today. His work reminds us that access is not just a policy issue — it is a matter of dignity and justice. In healthcare especially, access matters. Honoring that legacy means continuing the work to remove barriers and expand equitable access for all.
