Please join CASA in advocating at the Capitol! In the spring, CASA supporters from across the state will gather at the Oregon Capitol to visit with legislators about the difference a CASA can make in a child’s life. This event is our best opportunity to demonstrate community support for CASA in hopes of increasing awareness, enthusiasm, and funding for our child advocacy work. No need to have any prior experience or legislative connections (but let us know if you do).

What does a CASA advocate actually do?

A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is a trained community volunteer who shows up consistently for a child in foster care—listening, learning what’s going on, and making sure the child’s needs don’t get lost in the process.

In plain terms, CASA volunteers:
• Get to know the child and the adults involved in their life
• Gather information from teachers, caregivers, caseworkers, and others
• Share what they learn with the court so decisions reflect the child’s best interests

You don’t need a legal background—just a steady heart, good listening skills, and a commitment to showing up.
