Keep this in mind if you are planning on transferring your GI Bill. After Aug 1, every Soldier will incur an additional four year service obligation. Well worth it, however, if you don't plan on using your GI Bill.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill is available to service members who serve on active duty for 90 days or more. However, the ability to transfer that benefit to dependents is a recruiting and retention tool.
