On Monday, Debbie was asked by PAL volunteer, Cassie Farm, to help her transport 4 dogs, "Casper", "Zeus", "Sonny" & "Kane" (all very sweet, friendly & healthy) to a local shelter for an intake appointment with the unsheltered owner, Zach. Zach had recently returned to Salem after 90 days at a drug treatment center. He is clean and sober. While he was in treatment, his ex-girlfriend (the dogs were also hers when they were together) was caring for them. He came home to a very sad situation with his 4 dogs. They had been living in filth. He doesn't have housing, and in order to get housing, he needs to have only 1 dog. Zach began his search to find rescue for 3 of his dogs. He did ALL the right things to rehome his dogs. He followed all the steps to get an appointment at Safe Haven Humane Society in Tangent, Oregon Humane Society--Salem Campus, and contacted as many rescues as he could find. ALL of them were unable to take any of the dogs.

It was 90 degrees Monday, and the only shelter Zach has for his 4 dogs is his SUV. This was not a good situation for the dogs. Thank goodness, The Shaggy Dog in Dallas was able to take the four dogs for boarding. They were all up to date on their vaccinations, except for Bordetella. We stopped at Four Corners Animal Hospital and purchased the Bordetella vaccine (Thank you, Dr. Anderson/FCAH) for all 4 dogs.

We need your help. Cassie Farm & Debbie will continue to try to get the dogs accepted at OHS--Salem Campus or a rescue. They will all be neutered by PAL. This is an expensive venture, between the cost of boarding the dogs and the upcoming neuters that will be scheduled.
