Salem Harvest is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization established in 2010 that harvests local produce that would go to waste and donates it for distribution throughout the community. Marion-Polk Food Share is our largest distribution partner. On average, 400,000 pounds of fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables are harvested per year by volunteers and their families, making Salem Harvest the largest community harvesting organization in Oregon. In a state with one of the highest rates of childhood hunger, Salem Harvest volunteers and growers have the opportunity to provide direct support for thousands of families and individuals. Whether you are a farmer, neighborhood tree owner, interested volunteer, or someone who just wants to participate in a harvest, we invite you to join us in our mission of building a compassionate community where neighbors help neighbors in a spirit of goodwill, where hungry families can gain self-sufficiency, where our urban and rural bounty is recognized and appreciated, and where simple, sustainable lifestyles are celebrated.

Is it a pumpkin??... Or... is it a squash? So many sizes, shapes, and colors.

A Monday evening blueberry harvest just opened on our Harvest Page. Go check it out!

Blueberry season is not over and the berries are bountiful and delicious!

On a corn note - we will be posting more harvests for the week, but I want to be sure our plan and approach to harvesting the 2 full acres of corn is going to work.

After Monday's harvest, I'll know more.
