The Santiam Flycasters is a group of men, women, and youths in the Salem area who have a common interest in fly fishing. We are the Santiam Flycasters!

It is our mission as a part of the fly fishing community to promote the sport of fly fishing for interested individuals of all generations now and into the future by fellowship, education, conservation practices, promoting research, guardianship, knowledge of proper regulations, and affiliation with other like-minded organizations. The SFCC flea market/ fly tying demonstrations night is scheduled for Thursday, June 11th (in lieu of our regular monthly meeting). Participating club members will be selling off their used fly fishing, fly tying supplies and outdoor gear... The market is open to the public for browsing and buying at 6pm. A great opportunity to pick up quality used gear at bargain prices! Get some and get out on the water! 👍

4 of our members fished the Deschutes River from Warm Springs to Trout Creek on Wed May 20th. The fishing was great as was the weather and the scenery. Fun day on the water! 👍

A cadre of SFCC members spent several days fishing Haystack Reservoir last week. Haystack can be a tough fishery, but when we figured it out, it made for fun days on the water. The weather was generally amenable and big fish and a ton of small fish were netted.... The juvenile steelhead plants provided a lot of bang for their size. Great trip! 👍

SFCC's May meeting is this Thursday, May 14th. Our guest speaker is Jeff Smith. Doors open at 6:30 pm, the meeting begins at 7 pm.

Several SFCC members fished South Twin lake last weekend on a joint outing with the Linn-Benton Fly Fishing club. The fishing was off and on throughout the day, but quite a few fish were brought to the net including a few trophy sized rainbows. Gorgeous scenery on the water and all of us enjoyed watching a nested pair of bald eagles and an osprey put on a "how to fish" demonstration. Also, a small but intense thunder cell worked over the campground late Saturday afternoon that included real booming thunder and a lightning ground strike just up the hill from the lake. Fun outing! 👍

Several members of the club fished OFC's Blue Den and Turner lakes over multiple days last week. The fishing was, given the iffy weather early in the week, pretty good both in terms of number and size of fish brought to the net. Fun outings! 👍

A couple of our members fished Cleawox Reservoir last Saturday. The weather on the coast was fantastic, the bald eagles were flying the lake and the trout were very cooperative. Several trophy sized fish landed. 👍

A few of our members fished the Metolius River on Saturday, March 21st. As usual, the fishing was challenging, but the weather and the scenery were very cooperative! 👍
