Day 8 of our Contamination Campaign is ✨Textiles✨

The textile industry is one of the largest polluters. Many of the produced garments are low quality, and don’t last as long as they used to. In fact, the life of consumer products, like clothing, shortened by 50 percent from 1992 to 2002. ✨Mercury✨

We feel it is important to include Mercury as an additional contaminant for the campaign on day 5. We are taking this opportunity to educate the people of Marion County on the seriousness of properly disposing items containing mercury!

As of now, the Curbside Collection App does not feature Mercury... But we know items such as fluorescent light bulbs contain Mercury. Swipe to discover how to properly dispose of your Mercury containing fluorescent light bulbs!

This campaign features the most common contamination in our local waste stream! Contamination is defined as articles of garbage incorrectly placed in curbside commingled recycling bin.

This campaign has 3 goals...
1. Connect you to the amazing Mid-Valley Curbside Collection App.
2. Bring light to items that do not belong in your curbside commingled recycling bin (your blue bin).
3. Engage the people of Marion County by ending this campaign with a $100 EarthWISE business GIVEAWAY!!!
