A.J. Foyt has the pole in this shot of the 1965 front row. In his highly-modified Lotus, with the slick Dean Jefferies paint job. AJ set a new track record to, in his words, "...to bring the record back to the United States!" Jim Clark is in the middle, although Jim is not in the car. His teammate, Bobby Johns, sat in for him. Dan Gurney is on the outside. Talk about racing legends!

Beautiful cars make up the front row for the 1962 Indianapolis 500. Parnelli won the pole by becoming the first driver in Speedway history to break the 150mph barrier. Parnelli would dominate the race, leading 120 laps, before he lost his brakes, and finished 7th. Rodger Ward would go on to win his second 500 from the middle of the front row. and Bobby Marshman would finish 5th. Photo from Steve Shunck.
