Willamette Valley Chamber for Commerce Please note: The Salem Keizer Business Alliance has returned to our original name,
The Willamette Valley Chamber for Commerce.

The WVCC represents a diverse group of entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to the prosperity of our communities. I have been in business since 1980, starting in the gem and jewelry industry and, although I still sell gems, most of my time is devoted to working with the Salem/Keizer Business Alliance and ShowBiz Salem. In 1987, I bought a branch of a local barter company in Portland and in 1

990, I became the area director for a national barter company. While working in the barter industry, I learned quite a bit about various types of businesses. This knowledge of business comes in very handy when helping other businesses become more successful, which is one of the goals of the Salem-Keizer Business Alliance and ShowBiz Salem. Our other goals are to:
Promote business
Build relationships
Bring awareness and support local non-profits

One of the weirdest parts of owning a business?

You can have a really good week and still end Friday thinking about the 17 things you didn’t get done. 😂

So here’s your reminder and mine:

Look at what DID move.

The conversation you had.
The client you landed.
The problem you solved.
The thing you finally finished.
The decision you stopped avoiding.

Progress in business rarely looks as dramatic as we think it should.

Most of the time, it’s a bunch of small moves that eventually add up to something pretty damn big.

Count the wins.

The to-do list will still be there Monday.

FRIDAY CHECK-IN 👀

We made it to the weekend, business owners.

So what's the plan?

😴 RESTING — shutting the laptop, ignoring the inbox and reclaiming your weekend.

💻 WORKING — catching up, getting ahead or doing the stuff you couldn't get to all week.

😅 BOTH — because apparently “work-life balance” is a choose-your-own-adventure.

Drop yours below:

RESTING, WORKING or BOTH?

Bonus points if you tell us what kind of business you're running. 👇

The weekend is HERE. 🔥

No live programming. No schedule to follow. Just the R&B, hip hop, soul, and throwbacks you love playing all weekend long.

Backyard, road trip, date night, kicking it with your people, or doing absolutely nothing — whatever the weekend looks like, KSOS has the soundtrack.

Turn it up and enjoy your weekend. 🎶

More traffic won’t fix a bad conversion problem.

Before you spend more money getting people to your website, ask:

Are they actually doing anything once they get there?

Calling.
Booking.
Requesting a quote.
Filling out a form.
Buying.

Because 1,000 website visitors who leave without taking action aren’t better than 100 visitors who actually become leads.

Sometimes you don’t need more marketing.

You need to fix what happens AFTER the click.

That’s where the money usually is.

BUSINESS TIP OF THE DAY

The sale isn't always lost.
Sometimes you just stopped following up too soon.

Your customer is busy. Your email got buried. They meant to call back. Life happened.

A simple:

“Hey, just checking in. Is this still something you'd like help with?”

can reopen a conversation you assumed was dead.

Today's challenge: Follow up with 3 potential customers you've already talked to.

You might be surprised what's still sitting on the table.

“Better” and “back to normal” aren't always the same thing.

The worst of the pain is gone. You're back at work and doing most of what you normally do.

But maybe you're still avoiding certain movements, your range of motion isn't quite there, or something just doesn't feel like it did before.

Recovery isn't only about hurting less. It's about getting back to moving and living normally.

If you're stuck somewhere between “I'm fine” and “I'm not quite myself yet,” it may be time to give your recovery some attention. 💙

I swear my ideal clients always find me. 😂

I met with a woman today who originally wanted to talk about Facebook ads.

By the end of the conversation, I was taking over her social media AND her ads.

But the best part?

Within about five minutes I was thinking, “Oh yeah. You’re my people.”

She lifts.
She works out.
She’s disciplined.
She talks like me.
She swears like me. 😂

And it reminded me why I’m so damn specific about how I market my own business.

I don’t write content for “small business owners.”

I write like I’m talking to ONE person.

The kind of person I actually want to work with.

My personality is in it. My opinions are in it. My language is in it.

And somehow, over and over again, those people find me.

Your marketing shouldn't be trying to make everyone like you.

It should make the right people recognize you.

WEDNESDAY BUSINESS GROWTH TIP

Want more customers? Start building relationships with the businesses that already know them.

A realtor knows lenders.
A contractor knows homeowners.
A bookkeeper knows business owners.

Your best referral partner may already be connected to the exact customer you're trying to reach.

This week's challenge: Identify 3 businesses that serve the same customers you do and start a conversation.

That's what the Willamette Valley Chamber for Commerce is about: connections that create opportunities.
