For the third year in a row, MANIT was proud to be part of the AAPI Heritage Month celebration in Monmouth on Saturday, May 16th.

Every year, this event continues to grow and bring communities together through culture, food, music, and fellowship. The vibes were amazing, the island dances were beautiful, and the island food brought everyone together in the true spirit of community.

This photo highlights three community members who came out to celebrate and represent our Pacific Island community with pride.

MANIT is grateful to continue being part of this event and looks forward to many more years of celebrating culture, unity, and community together.

Kommool tata to everyone who helped make this year another memorable celebration.

We welcomed Catherine Villarreal from FFF Advising, MANIT’s accounting firm, to our office. During her visit, she reviewed our books and indicated that the organization of our financial records was in good standing as MANIT continues serving the Marshallese community.

As a token of appreciation, we shared handmade Marshallese women’s handicrafts to thank her, and also enjoyed some tonaj together.

Our Resource Director, Russell Langrine, joined fellow agencies and community-based organizations from across Oregon in Portland this week for the “Conversations for Change” Motivational Interviewing training focused on to***co and ni****ne cessation.

The training focused on reflective listening, communication strategies, and strengthening community outreach efforts across Oregon. Following the training, Russell had the opportunity to connect with trainer Carrie Bader after a full day of learning and collaboration.

At MANIT, we continue investing in opportunities that strengthen how we serve and advocate for the Marshallese community throughout Oregon and beyond. Kommool tata to everyone who made this training possible.

Last Saturday, May 9th, at Pasifika Fest in Corvallis, our Marshallese students at Oregon State University proudly showcased our culture while pursuing their education and future goals alongside other Pacific Island students.

MANIT and members of the Marshallese community were also honored to share some of our handicrafts and traditional navigation chart in support of our students and culture.

Beautiful seeing families, friends, and relatives come together to support the next generation. Our culture continues to grow through our youth. Jeramon to all the students who represented with pride!
