The Saxon Success Fund is now a partner with the Oregon Cultural Trust. This means that a donation to SSF and a matching donation to OCT provides you with an Oregon cultural tax credit of the same amount. For complete details, see the Oregon Cultural Trust website or consult with your tax advisor. Make it happen by December 31st to receive the credit on your 2024 return!

Thank you for helping us provide more scholarships to Saxon grads this year than we've ever been able to before.

We award scholarships based on how many donations we receive so your assistance has been very impactful to these students! In 2024, we disbursed over $60,000 to South seniors to use at colleges and universities. If you'd like to help us increase this in 2025 graduates, please donate https://saxonsuccessfund.org/donate .

SSF began in the fall of 2019 with the mission to raise funds to support current and future South Salem High School students with scholarships and large projects. Despite the global pandemic hitting us all in 2020, SSF was able to begin distributing scholarships to graduating seniors with the funds raised.

In addition to awarding more SSF scholarships to 2021 grads, the Kathleen Hanneman scholarship was added to our annual awards that year and continues to this day.

In December 2021, Celia’s College and Career Center was named for Celia Baculi, an incredible volunteer and intentional fundraising ensued to build the center in the south portion of the Library
Celia’s College and Career Center opened at South at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year, providing an accessible space for students to plan their futures after graduation.

As of the spring of 2023, SSF had awarded 40 - $1000 scholarships to graduating Saxons, and in 2024, 30 additional scholarships were distributed. We were fortunate to be able to provide 2024 grads a number of larger scholarships as well, due to the generosity of large donors.

We're now happy to highlight the last of our 2024 scholarship recipients. The Saxon Success Fund Board, donors, and South staff celebrated many outstanding seniors along with their families on Monday at our annual reception.

Our scholarships would not be possible without the incredibly generous support of our donors. Every year we raise funds so we can award more scholarships than the previous year. And we've done it this year! We've not only awarded more of our SSF scholarships than ever, but we were fortunate to receive several large donations from alumni and friends so we could add more scholarships!

This year we added Brian and Berrie Leslie Scholarships to our awards. The Leslies are active in the South community and have two children, one past Saxon and another future Saxon. Because of their generous donation, two South High seniors have received scholarships that will support them as the pursue their degrees.

Today we are sharing more Saxon stars! We recognized all of our scholarship recipients at Monday's reception in the beautiful Rose Lobby. The Saxon Success Fund Board, donors, and South staff celebrated many outstanding seniors along with their families.

Our scholarships would not be possible without the incredibly generous support of our donors. Every year we raise funds so we can award more scholarships than the previous year. And we've done it this year! We've not only awarded more of our SSF scholarships than ever, but we were fortunate to receive several large donations from alumni and friends so we could add more scholarships!

This year we added Rick and Jan Gassner Scholarships to our awards. Rick is a 1967 South graduate. Because of the Gassner's generous donation, four 2024 Saxons have received scholarships.

A scholarship we've proudly offered every year since 2021, the Kathleen Hanneman Memorial Scholarship, honors the late Kathleen Hanneman. Ms. Hanneman was a well known local leader in education and the first woman to become a principal in the Salem-Keizer School District (McNary). Recipients of this scholarship are pursuing careers in education

We will be sharing many reasons to celebrate as we observe the end of the school year at South Salem High School. The Saxon Success Fund will be highlighting our scholarship recipients over the next few posts. We are extremely proud to announce that we have awarded 30 scholarships this school year, totaling $65,000! Thank you to all of our supporters!

Roses to these 2024 Saxons! Saxon Success Fund Scholarship Recipients were recognized Monday afternoon. These graduating seniors each received scholarships to use this fall at the college or university of their choice. The Saxon Success Fund Board and our donors were honored to celebrate your success with your families and wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
