🆕 Here’s a look at the bicycle racks onboard the new Amtrak Cascades trains!

The Amtrak Cascades is one of only two train lines of Amtrak to recently receive an “Excellent” score from the League of American Bicyclist.

❗️Salem & Keizer, it’s time to take action! The Salem-Keizer Area Transportation Study (SKATS) Policy Committee recently held a vote that paves the way for even more dangerous streets. Despite years of increasing fatalities and serious injuries, these elected officials are doubling down on the system that has made our streets so dangerous.

‼️Despite representing 65.1% of the population of the region, the city of Salem will only get 11.1% of the vote.
In other words, a resident of Aumsville will have 43 TIMES MORE INFLUENCE THAN A RESIDENT OF SALEM.

👉 If you are unhappy with the unrepresentative government, which funds transportation projects that result in hundreds of deaths of our neighbors, email [email protected] and tell them to amend the proposed change in their cooperative agreement.

👉 And if you can, please attend the SKATS Policy Committee meeting on Tuesday, September 22 at noon at the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments offices at 100 High Street SE, Suite 200

🚨 Tell Congress: funding for bike safety projects MUST continue! 🚨

Right now, the Senate is considering adding language to the transportation reauthorization bill to restrict bike lanes. We need everyone in Congress to hear us clearly: bike lanes save lives, and bicyclists have a right to ride on the roads and get home safely.

Tell your elected representatives: vote NO on any transportation reauthorization bill that would restrict the ability of federal funding to be used on bike safety projects.

💚 Send a letter to your elected representatives: https://action.bikeleague.org/page/101946/action/1
✉️ All you have to do is enter your information, and the League of American Bicyclists website will provide you a pre-written (but editable) letter addressed to your specific representatives.
Then all you have to do is hit SEND!

Salem Bike Vision will be hosting some roundtable discussions at the Salem Housing Advocacy Happy Hour on Tuesday, September 15th.

Salem is in the midst of making decisions about housing and development that will have a real impact on affordability, accessibility, and what our communities will look like in the future. 1000 Friends will share updates on what’s coming up (including important code updates in Salem) and other local groups (like us!) will be in attandance to share about their work and learn ways to get involved.

Mostly, this is a chance to bring people together. Whether you’re already active in local housing issues or just curious, come meet your neighbors, connect with local advocates, ask questions, swap ideas, and learn from one another.

There will be food, good conversation, and a room full of people who care about making Salem a more welcoming and affordable place to live. We hope to see you there!

Tickets are free, but limited.
Please RSVP using the link in our bio!

We hope you come to this Open House and let Marion County know that they need to build sidewalks on both sides of the street and that there is more than enough room for protected bike lanes.
