As we approach America’s 250th Independence Day, here is a story from an American soldier.
Before Heather wore the uniform, she was a little girl learning to survive things no child should have to. Abuse, poverty, and a kind of weight that followed her into adulthood.
One of the hardest things she had to learn, and it took therapy to get there, is this. If you were victimized, the shame was never yours to carry.
Heather has been fighting her whole life. First just to make it through, and now in service to this country. That same warrior spirit is why she can sit down and tell the truth out loud, so another woman knows she is not alone.
Her full story is on the Story Night Podcast, episode 63. And this is only part one. Subscribe so part two comes straight to your feed when it drops, because there is so much more to her story.
