Yesterday, in Salem, we had the first day of our weekend-long plant sale and it was a success! On another note, Sigrid (the guide dog puppy the Simpsons have been raising) is ready to go back for formal service dog training at Guide Dogs for the Blind (). At the plant sale last year, she was brand new to our family at 9 weeks old. It was so rainy and windy she was shivering so we had to tuck her into our clothing to keep her nice and warm! What a difference a year makes! The Portland sale is today at the Garden Home Recreation Center (7475 SE Oleson Rd). Come check it out - we have hanging baskets, plants, vegetables, herbs, baked goods and so much more for sale!

As our foundation grows, becomes more well known and we continue partnering with local, large area hospital social workers, the amount of grant applications we have been receiving is increasing month over month. Our singular mission is to give assistance to every single eligible grant applicant that seeks our help. We do not want to turn anyone away for lack of funds on our part. This is why we diligently work on our fundraisers and ask for your support.

By helping to support our foundation, you are directly impacting the life of someone who has been diagnosed with brain cancer. Your dollars go directly to these families. Our foundation is 100% volunteer based.

Inspired by the life and legacy of our daughter and sister, Libby, whose brave battle with brain cancer led to the creation of Libby’s Hope Foundation, we provide one-time grants to individuals diagnosed with brain cancer. The hope is that the financial assistance we provide can allow these individuals and their families to focus on the rigors of treatment, rather than all the financial stresses a cancer diagnosis can bring.

Every morning, without fail, when I log into my computer for work, I take a good, long look at the picture of her that sits front and center on my computer stand. In fact, I can hear her start laughing and say "reeaaalllyyy Abby?! You chose this photo of me??" She always hated her school-issued teacher photo. But I always loved them. So each year she always made sure I got a copy, or 7, of each year's photo because she'd get pages of them and had no idea what to do with them.

Coming up next Friday, her physical being has been gone for 4 years. It goes without saying that we miss her deeply.

Libby's Hope Foundation has taken a small hiatus from publicly posting updates, but we want you to know, we've never stopped giving grants or carefully crafting Libby's legacy into something she'd be deeply proud of.
