June 14 — Flag Day

🇺🇸 Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate the American flag — a symbol recognized around the world for freedom, sacrifice, and resilience.

Whether your flag flies in front of your home, your post, or your business, take a moment today to reflect on the generations who served under those colors.

Drop a photo of your flag display in the comments — we’d love to see how you’re honoring Flag Day.

June 6 — D-Day

82 years ago today, history changed forever.

On June 6, 1944, brave Allied service members landed on the beaches of Normandy during the Normandy landings and began the long road toward victory in Europe.

Today we pause to remember the courage shown that day and honor all who served during World War II.

If you have a family member who served during WWII, share their name or story below so we may remember them together.

Attention Post, District, and Department Commanders!
As we approach the end of the 2025–2026 Membership Year, we are preparing to recognize those who have earned All-American honors. If your Post, District, or Department has met the requirements, please make sure your cap size is on file.

To update your cap size:
- Log in to vfw.org
- Select "Online Membership System (OMS)" under Membership Quick Links
- Under Personal Services, click "Cap Size"
- Select your cap size and style, then click Submit

This information is needed to order All-State and All-American caps.

Please remember that reaching 101% membership does not automatically qualify a Post for All-State or All-American recognition. Be sure to review your Department Membership Program and the National Membership Program for complete qualification requirements.

Thank you for your dedication, leadership, and hard work as we continue striving toward our membership goals and finish the year strong!

Today, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Oregon honors and remembers the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It is a solemn day of remembrance for those who never made it home — the heroes who sacrificed everything to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

As we gather with family and friends, we encourage all Oregonians to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember the fallen and the families they left behind.

We will never forget their service, sacrifice, and devotion to our country.

Today, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Oregon commemorates VE Day — Victory in Europe Day.

On May 8, 1945, N**i Germany’s unconditional surrender officially took effect, bringing an end to World War II in Europe. We honor the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the Allied forces whose service secured victory and helped preserve freedom around the world.

Today, we remember the millions who served, the families who sacrificed at home, and those who never returned. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
