VFW leaders from across Oregon have gathered to strengthen their knowledge, sharpen their leadership skills, and learn more about the resources available to help their Posts succeed.

Strong Posts begin with informed, confident officers—and we appreciate everyone who took the time to attend, participate, and invest in the future of our organization.

📢 VFW MEMBERS — UPDATED RESOURCES NOW AVAILABLE

The digital version of the 2027 VFW Podium Edition has been approved and is now available on the VFW National website.

The 2027 Podium Edition includes:
• Congressional Charter
• Bylaws
• Manual of Procedure
• Ritual

Also available are the updated 2026–27 Commander, Quartermaster and Trustee Guides.

💻 How to find them:

1️⃣ Log in to the VFW National website and go to My VFW.
2️⃣ Under Member/Post Resources, select “Bylaws: Training, Forms & Templates.”
3️⃣ The 2027 Podium Edition is available under the first dropdown section.
4️⃣ The updated Commander, Quartermaster and Trustee Guides can be found under the Training dropdown toward the bottom of the page.

Post and District officers are encouraged to download the updated resources and become familiar with the information available to help them successfully fulfill their duties.

Service members in harm’s way today should not have to watch Congress debate how much of their future benefits should be cut for budget offsets.

Veterans’ benefits are a cost of war, not a source of “savings.”

Honor their sacrifice. Don’t normalize cuts to VA benefits.

🚧 Be in the know!

Veterans traveling to the Portland VA in September and October should be aware of this upcoming I-5 southbound closure through the Rose Quarter.

Please plan ahead for appointments, allow extra travel time, and share this with other veterans who may be affected.

Department officers and members are spending the day learning, sharing information, and building the knowledge and skills needed to support our Posts and serve our veterans.

⚠️ Veterans: Don't Pay for VA Claims Assistance!

It is illegal for VFW-accredited representatives to charge veterans for preparing, filing, or prosecuting an initial VA disability claim. If someone claims to be representing the VFW and asks for payment, that's a red flag.

The VFW remains committed to protecting veterans from fraud and ensuring they receive ethical, accredited claims assistance—at no cost.

Before working with anyone on your VA claim, verify that they are properly accredited through the VA Office of General Counsel's Accreditation Search:
