Just a reminder to all that the museum will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance for Juneteenth. We will not be holding pottery class this week. We will resume classes on Friday, June 26th. Please remember, these classes are open to the public. We will be moving on from pinch pots to creating larger pieces in the coming weeks. Feel free to join us and learn more about the revitalization of Seneca pottery!

THIS FOURTH OF JULY COME CELEBRATE THE CREATION OF OUR PEOPLE! The Seneca-Iroquois National Museum/Onöhsagwë:de' Cultural Center is proud and excited to present to our community... TURTLE ISLAND... from the Creation Story of the Hodinöhšö:ni:h.

A production by G. Peter Jemison (Seneca, Heron Clan) and Plasticiens Volants
Choreography by William Crouse Sr. (Seneca, Hawk Clan)
With performances by Skywoman Iroquois Dance Theater
Produced by Sonia Kozlova Clark, Unicycle Productions and Plasticiens Volants
Presented by Friends of Ganondagan under the direction of Jeanette Jemison (Mohawk, Snipe Clan)

📅 Date: July 4, 2026, 4:00 PM
📍 Location: Seneca Nation of Indians, Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center, 82 W Hetzel Street, Salamanca, NY 14779
🎟️ Admission: Free and open to the public

About the Production:
An outdoor interactive spectacle featuring a giant inflatable Turtle sculpture by G. Peter Jemison and Plasticiens Volants, live music, dance, and Indigenous storytelling by Skywoman Iroquois Dance Theater. Turtle Island brings the Haudenosaunee Creation Story to life as a free public event, sharing a message of peace that resonates today.

Unlike conventional theater, Turtle Island unfolds in the public realm. The monumental Turtle inflatable drifts above as Haudenosaunee dancers, storytellers, and musicians guide audiences through the Creation Story—Skywoman, her descendants, the animals, and the formation of Turtle Island.

Turtle Island affirms that public art is a form of cultural gathering and civic dialogue.
