After winning multiple legal fights, Operation Sand is claiming victory over one company and its plans to mine silica sand in Ste. Genevieve County.

UPDATE!

On January 3rd, Nexgen dismissed its case against the County challenging the County Health Ordinance.

This has been a long road to victory, and we couldn't have done this without the support of our great community and the service of our county's elected officials.

We will of course keep our eyes and ears open regarding any future pursuits to mine silica sand in our beloved Ste. Genevieve County. But for now, we are happy to announce victory!

We are proud of how this community has come together to protect our future!

We are so pleased to announce that the Court of Appeals has ruled in our favor and upheld the Administrative Hearing Commission's and the Missouri Mining Commission's decision to revoke the land reclamation permit!

The mining company still holds no permits or permit applications to our knowledge. The company's website has also gone dark.

We are thrilled with this victory and will continue to keep our eyes and ears open to protect Ste. Genevieve!

Time for some updates!

Here are the most recent notable events in our fight to protect Ste. Gen from the installation of a silica sand mine.

May 3rd - Mining company requested DNR terminate their water permit
May 5th - DNR terminated the water permit
September 6th - Oral arguments to be held on the mining permit appeal at the Court of Appeals in downtown St. Louis

Thanks to the dedication and hard-work of our members, community leaders, and involved Missouri residents...
-the mining company holds no water permits for this location
-the company hold no mining permits for this location
AND
-the county has health ordinances in place that prohibit mining in this location
