Trail Rail Run

Trail Rail Run 🏃‍♀️ Ultimate Trail Race Adventure! Choose from 50 miles, 50K, 30K, 12K, 5K or a 50-mile relay 😜💪 Regis, Montana.

The Trail Rail Run utilizes the Northern Pacific and Milwaukee railroad grades starting in Mullan, Idaho and with all races finishing in St. This is a great beginner ultra because the grades are gradual. Rails to Trails and the USFS have been key factors in developing these old railroad grades for recreational use.

🚨 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 🚨

The Trail Rail Run simply would not be possible without our incredible volunteers.

Every year, dozens of community members help make race day special by staffing aid stations, helping with runner check-in, directing traffic, assisting at the finish line, cheering on participants, and so much more. Whether you can help for a few hours or all day, we’d love to have you on our team!

As a thank you, all volunteers receive:
👕 A Trail Rail Run volunteer shirt
🍔 A delicious meal
🍺 A cold beer for those 21+

Most importantly, you’ll be part of an amazing group of people helping make one of the biggest community events of the year a success.

We are so thankful and grateful for every volunteer who gives their time to support this event. ❤️

🥤💜 BIG NEWS, TRAIL RAIL RUNNERS! 💜🥤

We’re excited to announce that St. Regis Travel Center is returning as a sponsor of the 2026 Trail Rail Run!

Not only have they stepped up once again as a financial sponsor, but they’re also bringing back a participant favorite… The Best Shake Ever! 🍦🫐

Every registered participant will receive a FREE Huckleberry Milkshake from St. Regis Travel Center after crossing the finish line. After miles on the trail, there’s no better way to celebrate your accomplishment than with Montana’s favorite shake!

The support of local businesses like St. Regis Travel Center helps make the Trail Rail Run possible and allows us to continue improving the race experience while supporting the Montana section of the Route of the Olympian Trail.

Please join us in thanking St. Regis Travel Center for their continued commitment to our runners, volunteers, and community! 👏
