I chose Guatemala because the need here is impossible to ignore. Like so many places around the world, Guatemala faces a serious problem with abandoned and free-roaming dogs. Many spend their days searching for their next meal, clean water, shelter, or simply a little kindness.
And Guatemala is only one piece of a much bigger crisis. It’s estimated that around 143 MILLION dogs are living on the streets worldwide. 🌎🐾
That number can feel overwhelming. How do you even begin to make a difference when the problem is that big?
You start with one.
One dog. One meal. One bowl at a time. ❤️
And in just 4 days in Guatemala, that turned into:
🐾 60+ dogs fed
🥣 100+ pounds of dog food given out
🇬🇹 4 days of showing up wherever we found dogs who needed us
Was it enough to solve the problem? No.
But to the dog who didn’t know where their next meal was coming from, that bowl mattered.
And this is only the beginning.
My dream for KIBL is so much bigger than feeding dogs on my travels. My goal is to grow KIBL enough to one day open rescues and safe spaces across the globe..places where stray dogs can receive food, medical care, love, safety, and ultimately a chance at finding a home.
I also dream of those rescues becoming part of the communities they serve! Creating local jobs, bringing people together, and giving communities the resources to care for the animals living alongside them.
But big dreams have to start somewhere.
Ours starts with a bowl. 🥣❤️
