When we sat down four years ago with Amy Marshall and started talking about doing an event at St. Pete Shuffle for Pride, we all agreed that the emphasis had to be about the community. It needed to be a celebration of the people that make our city so great. For those of you that were in attendance on Friday night, I hope that feeling came across loud and clear.
I know I found myself more than once standing off to the side and taking in all the love and joy that was emanating from those in attendance. It was a humbling experience to be able to say we created a space that filled so many people with joy, happiness, and Pride.
With all of that joy and happiness, the community showed tremendous generosity. We understand that its financially difficult for a lot of people in our community at the moment, but you showed up in a big way for an organization that's mission is to help build safe communities that support LGBTQ+ people.
With your help, I am excited to announce that as of this morning, we raised over $10,000 for PFLAG Safety Harbor!!!!!
That far exceeded our expectations, and as a reminder, 100% of those proceeds goes directly to the charity!!!!
From the bottom of our hearts we can't thank you all enough. To the businesses and private donors who gave generously to our silent auction. The community partners that showed up, St Pete Pride, Metro Healthy Communities, The city of St Pete, Equality Florida. To the countless volunteers, who gave it there all to provide such an amazing experience , thank you! We are forever grateful to be a part of such an amazing community and it was a beautiful reminder that love will always conquer hate!!!
