Background: What Happened in Taiwan
On October 3, officers from the Wanhua Precinct of the Taipei City Police Department entered a gay BDSM-themed bar in Ximending—a historic hub for LGBTQ+ culture in Taipei—to execute a search warrant. According to multiple on-site witnesses, officers refused to present the search warrant to individuals subjected to inspection, ordered all patrons to squat, prohibited communication and mobile device usage, made derogatory remarks directed at individuals with disabilities, subjected patrons to verbal abuse, and forcibly escorted dozens of citizens to the police station for interrogation. Confronted with such procedural violations, disproportionate measures, pervasive hostility, and abusive conduct throughout the operation, we—as civil society organizations committed to defending the fundamental rights of the LGBTQ+ community—issue our gravest condemnation and formal protest.

Taipei City has long promoted its vibrant LGBTQ+ culture as a hallmark of international tourism and progressive image. We will inform the international community of this crackdown: Taipei City cannot be allowed to hypocritically exploit the LGBTQ+ community for international recognition while suppressing it at home.

Today, we received our first donated item from Huỳnh Quang Vinh representing Vietnamese q***r voices into the collection: Trầm Tích: Unearthed Memories, published by Vănguard LLC and created through the memories and contributions of many Vietnamese q***r artists and community members.

For us, this is more than receiving a book but another community, another set of memories, another part of our shared q***r Asian culture and history now has a home here.

QAM was created because too many of our stories are scattered, forgotten, or never collected in the first place. Every object entrusted to us helps build something bigger: a living archive where future generations can see that we were here, we created, we loved, and we belonged.

And this is only the 7th month❤️

If you have photographs, publications, flyers, letters, art, ephemera, or other pieces of q***r Asian history that deserve to be preserved, we would love to hear their story.

This Saturday we walked behind the scene of Q***r Asian Museum piloting the idea of “StepsSaturday” a every Saturday 8AM, while talking about our next trip to Viet Nam, and the coming Philipino-focused Year.

We need to reach 1k fo for streaming QAM Fam! Cuz we will do it again next Saturday, 8am. Same spot — in front of ***rasianmuseum, 1006 Central Ave St Pete FL. We will walk the Edge District and talk about things q***r and Asian here , plus whatever’s in the news for Tampa Bay and beyond. No RSVP. Join late, leave early, walk in the back and just listen. Everyone is welcome, including those cute 🐾.
