⚓ What a fantastic day for our first joint field trip with the Marine Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship Programs!

Our first stop was Maximo Marina, where the group toured some larger vessels and met with Cameron from Universal Detailing, one of our host employers. He walked them through boat-washing techniques and the maintenance required to keep a vessel looking its best.

We then headed to the Gulfport Yacht Club to meet Ms. Christina and help assess a monohull sailboat. ⛵️

It was a full day of exploration, employer connections, and hands-on learning in our favorite classroom-the one without walls!

⚓ What an amazing week for our Marine Pre-Apprenticeship Program!

We started the week learning wire management, splicing, and heat-shrink wrapping, then ended it alongside our Marine Education Program learning about fishing! 🎣

A huge thank-you to our instructor, Mr. Travis, Marine Education Director Jorge , and Sydney for sharing their time and knowledge with our pre-apprentices. Everyone had a fantastic time, and this was another perfect example of hands-on learning at its best!

⚓ Refreshed from the holiday weekend and right back on the boats!

Our new crew lead guided the class through our morning boat-care process. We rotate crew leads every two weeks so each pre-apprentice gets an opportunity to step up and lead.

A huge shout-out to the teachers and executive director from AMIkids Gainesville for role-playing as new boat owners! This gave our pre-apprentices a fun, hands-on way to practice explaining the major parts of a boat, their functions, and common boating terminology.

Leadership, technical knowledge, and customer service-all in our classroom without walls! 🛥️☀️

⚓ Word of the Day: Cavitation!

Our pre-apprentices didn’t just learn the definition today-they experienced it firsthand several times during our shakedown cruise! 🛥️

Before heading out, we were fortunate to have Captain Bob provide a flare demonstration and teach our group about marine safety. Mr. Ricky, owner and operator of Sun City Yacht & Marine Services, hosted today’s class, and our very own instructor, Travis, traded in his usual title to become Captain Travis for this amazing adventure.

What a fantastic way to end a very busy week! Our pre-apprentices were fully engaged, enjoyed every moment of the hands-on experience, and proved once again that some of the best learning happens in a classroom without walls.

⚓ Talk about a full and productive day!

After spending the day in class and helping clean and prepare the conference room for the next group, our apprentices and pre-apprentices still had time to put in a few more hours on the Tiara. They cleaned the boat and helped prepped the engine’s cooling system for tomorrow’s shakedown cruise.

Their hard work, teamwork, and willingness to jump in wherever needed continue to impress us. They are doing an amazing job, and we are incredibly proud of them! 🛥️

⚓ From apprentice project boat to proud new owner!

Our Marine Service Technician apprentices put their skills to work repairing and preparing this Angler for its next chapter. The completed boat has now been sold and is back on the water with its new owner!

This project represents hands-on learning, teamwork, and a job well done. Even better, the proceeds will support future apprenticeship training and projects.

We are incredibly proud of our apprentices and all they accomplished! 🛥️

⚓ Today marked the official first day of our Marine Pre-Apprenticeship Program!

Over the next 12 weeks, our students will gain hands-on marine experience, earn industry-recognized certifications, build career-readiness skills, and explore pathways into apprenticeship and employment.

We are proud to welcome our very first class and excited to watch them learn and grow! 🛥️
