St. Petersburg Bar Foundation Is an independent organization committed to improving the administration of justice. Established in 2002, the St.

Petersburg Bar Foundation is an independent organization committed to improving the administration of justice. The Foundation will accomplish its mission primarily through funding of projects which:

Foster programs of law-related education;
Encourage and promote legal assistance to the poor;

Support and promote programs and projects having as their purpose the improvement of the administration o

f justice and the dissemination of information to the general public so as to promote a better understanding of the judicial system;

Award grants for scholarships and fellowships for persons and purposes related to the improvement of the legal profession;
Support continuing education programs;
Support the creation of a legal information center for the general public. The Foundation, encourages gifts from individuals, foundations, law firms and corporations. Major gifts, planned gifts and annual donations are also welcome in support of the Foundation's mission and special projects.

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT | Congratulations to Hannah McCaffree, recipient of our annual Teen Court Scholarship for Outstanding Volunteer! Hannah is homeschooled and will be attending The University of Florida in the fall. She plans to study Finance and Accounting with aspirations to attend Law School and earn an LLM in Tax Law. Hannah has volunteered with Teen Court since she was in 9th grade and has dedicated over 130 hours to the program.
ABOUT TEEN COURT | High school students from around Pinellas County currently make up Teen Court. Students are given a three hour training course provided by the staff of Juvenile Arbitration. Teen Court participants oversee the hearing and decide sanctions for actual misdemeanor offenders that have been referred to Teen Court. Teen Court members act as the court bailiff, court clerk, jury, and both the prosecuting and defense attorneys. Volunteer Stetson Law students and volunteer attorneys preside over the hearings as the “hearing judge” and assist the student prosecuting and defense attorneys. Teen Court requires the youthful offender to assume responsibility for their behavior and accept the consequences or punishment sanctioned by a jury of their peers.
The Teen Court program continues to be extremely successful since its inception in 1993. The program has less than a 5% recidivism rate for offenders who complete the program. The recognition, and scholarship, to one outstanding Teen Court member of the year in 2026 will serve as a positive catalyst to assist the student’s future.
