We wanted to take a moment to honor a mother, Mandy Fackler, who was tragically killed this week, leaving behind her two beautiful children.
Our hearts are heavy as a community, and this heartbreaking loss reminds us of the urgent importance of the support Heels to Heal provides to individuals and families affected by domestic violence.
This video features a survivor, Wendy, who experienced domestic violence and sought help through the Heels to Heal Crisis Counseling program. Now Wendy can bravely share her story, similar to Mandy's DV experience, which inspires many survivors in our community to reach out to Heels to Heal for help.
The resources provided through the Heels to Heal Crisis Counseling Program are critical for domestic violence survivors and their families. We cannot turn our backs or look the other way when someone is hurting. We must be willing to recognize the signs, speak up, and help connect people to resources before a situation becomes another tragedy.
Today, I challenge each of you to be a beacon of light for someone who may be suffering in silence.
If you know someone affected by domestic violence or sexual assault, please encourage them to reach out to Heels to Heal. We DO have resources to help. We DO make a difference. We DO help survivors find a path toward safety and healing.
We have qualified counselors with years of experience working with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. They understand trauma and the complexities of abuse. Most importantly, they understand that leaving an abusive situation is not always simple—and that survivors need compassionate, professional support along the way.
Please stand up. Speak out. Share the resources available through the Heels to Heal Crisis Counseling program.
Demand for our Crisis Counseling Program has increased significantly this year, and we have added three additional qualified counselors so that we can continue serving survivors without placing them on a waitlist for counseling services.
Your support makes this possible.
Every dollar, every conversation, every referral, and every person who shares the Heels to Heal mission can help someone who feels alone realize that they are not alone, there is help available, and their life matters.
Let Mandy's story remind us why this work matters.
Be the person who speaks up.
Be the person who reaches out.
Be the beacon of light someone needs to find a way forward.
