You think you’ve faced power… until a big leaguer flattens a baseball.

Brannon Snead remembers throwing a nasty curveball to Reggie Jefferson—and catching him way out front.

“He wasn’t even close—I was pumped. I thought I had him.”

Then came the fastball.

“He hit that thing and it came straight back.
I picked up the ball—and it wasn’t round anymore.
Brand new. Wood bat. Crushed.”

The ball was oval.
Unusable. Flattened. Destroyed.

“I’ve played all kinds of ball—but I had never seen that.
That’s why he played over a decade in the big leagues.”

Not every college pitcher gets to throw to 15 big leaguers in one fall. Brannon Snead did.

In this story, Brannon remembers what it was like to pitch against Reggie Jefferson—a guy who went on to play 12 years in the big leagues.

“I picked up the ball after he hit it—and it wasn’t round anymore.
It was oval. A brand-new ball, crushed by a wood bat.”

Reggie wasn’t alone.
Guys like Dean Palmer, Scott Heeman, and David Ross were all coming back to work out at the college.

“Some falls, it was 15 big leaguers and 2 minor league guys working with us.”

The reason?
Access. Facilities. A coach who welcomed them back.

It’s not about wanting the challenge—it’s about needing it to grow.

Brannon Snead gets honest about what he hated most as a pitcher:

“I didn’t want to face the 20–1 team.
I just wanted to pitch and enjoy the game… throw against a team that’s 8 and 10.”

But looking back, he knows those games wouldn’t have made him better.

“If I had to give anyone advice? Play up.
I was where I was because I was forced to play up.”

Every pitch, every opponent, every uncomfortable moment—that’s what shaped him.

You don’t grow from easy wins—you grow by playing up.

Brannon Snead drops the kind of truth every athlete needs to hear:

“Play with people better than you. They’ll make you better.
You don’t learn anything from a blowout—that’s just a tune-up game.”

He and Coach Leo reflect on how false confidence gets built through easy games—and why college coaches don’t care about your ego record.

“The overall record? That’s ego. I’m looking at your conference record.”
