Visit the Woodson Museum

The African American Heritage Trail begins near the historic Deuces district, and the The Woodson African American Museum of Florida is currently featuring “Many Voices, One Nation – Our Community” and “The Underground Railroad Experience” through January 2027. Admission is free Tuesday–Saturday.

History gives us direction. Community gives us hope.

This week, take time to visit the Woodson African American Museum and explore the stories of resilience, courage, and community that helped shape St. Petersburg.

Today, Life From Inside Out proudly honors Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring strength of a people who refused to let hope be silenced.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not just about breaking physical chains—it is about restoring dignity, reclaiming purpose, and creating opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive. As an organization dedicated to supporting returning citizens, we understand the power of second chances, redemption, and the courage it takes to build a new life.

On this day, we celebrate the generations who fought for justice, recognize the progress that has been made, and recommit ourselves to the work that still lies ahead. May we continue to break barriers, uplift one another, and ensure that freedom, equity, and opportunity are accessible to all.

Yesterday's State of the Economy event showcased the exciting growth, partnerships, and investments shaping the future of our community. From the launch of St. Pete Works EDGE, with a goal of placing 150 residents into quality jobs by 2026, to ongoing redevelopment projects throughout The Deuces, Tangerine Plaza, and the Manhattan Casino area, the message was clear: opportunity is growing in South St. Petersburg.

We also learned about resources for entrepreneurs through The Greenhouse, new contracting opportunities for small businesses, and the upcoming Sunrise St. Pete initiative, which will provide homebuyer assistance, affordable housing opportunities, and community recovery support.

The future of St. Pete is being built through collaboration, workforce development, economic empowerment, and community investment—and we're excited to be part of the conversation.
