NOMADstudio

NOMADstudio NOMADstudio - The Art Bus Project - Art for ALL NOMAD puts creativity in motion to fuel connections and nurture communities.
(1)

They do this by mobilizing artists, activating shared spaces, and celebrating creative expression as an essential part of human well-being. NOMAD believes that collaborative culture-making supports well-being, and is a human right. Their network of artists, advocates, and activists work to remove impediments and ensure that the means to exercise this right are available to all. Their work is roote

d in the shared belief that creative expression is for ALL people, and that (as stated in the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights), “everyone has the right to freely participate in the cultural life of the community." In 2013, artist Carrie Boucher transformed a retired bus into a mobile studio to bring hands-on art exploration to the world, and NOMADstudio (Neighborhood Oriented Mobile Art + Design) was born. Today, with help from an ever-growing team, NOMAD continues to build connections through creativity, facilitating thousands of interactions between people and art in public and private spaces every year.

Wood build is one of our favorite projects here at NOMAD. It is an open‑ended art activity where children use small wood items and glue to build their own structures, sculptures, or designs. There is no “right” result—the focus is on creativity, problem‑solving, and exploration.

Hop over to our blog for the material list and a quick start guide on how to do this project at home! ➡️ https://loom.ly/X5OePRI

Beep, Beep!
The team had a wonderful time connecting and painting the bus in Sarasota with The Ringling team. Now we are on the move to get the bus ready for our next Rolling Studio event: Painting in the Park at the MFA!

We need all hands-on deck to get the bus sparkling.

We usually wash our bus in the early afternoon, but this Mother's Day we’ll be bringing it to our young friends at the group children's home. We plan to have an evening bus washing session immediately after that visit. We’d love for you to join us…and bring your loved ones out too!

"As a Teaching Artist, I find myself utilizing many different types of art supplies. There are times when I’m facilitating a project and I don’t feel great about the material. It’s not that it isn’t fun and visually appealing but it’s because it isn’t particularly earth friendly (I’m looking at you, glitter. I’m looking very hard at you)." - Calan Ree

We just want to send a huge thank you to the crew that helped wash our bus about a week ago. They did a phenomenal job and made our bus spotless. Look at our wheels, they've never looked this shiny before!
