📣 NFL Survivor Pool Fundraiser 📣
Hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard SunCoast Chiefs Petty Officer Association (CPOA)

On behalf of our CPOA, I’m excited to share a fundraiser we’re hosting and ask for your support in spreading the word! This event combines the fun of football season with a meaningful cause—helping military families in need. 🇺🇸

Charity Details:
• 💲 Entry Fee: $25 per entry (multiple entries allowed)
• 🏈 How It Works:
• Pick ONE NFL team each week to win.
• Starting Week 13, players must pick TWO teams each week.
• Teams can only be used once all season.
• Last remaining survivor wins 50% of all proceeds (split if tie).
• ❤ Charity Impact: 50% of proceeds go directly to supporting Coast Guard & military families in need.
• ⏰ Deadline to Register: September 7th at 1000

How to Register:
1️⃣ Email [email protected] with Player Name and number of entries.
2️⃣ Submit payment via Venmo -CPOA (label “NFL Survivor Pool”) and email proof of payment (screenshot or transaction number).
3️⃣ Once confirmed, you’ll receive a join link or have your player name activated (if returning).

Last week members from the Suncoast Chapter led by BMC James Pinto put the finishing touches on the Blackthorn Memorial site in preparation for the 45th Anniversary of the loss of the CGC Blackthorn. The restoration of the site was made possible by the following organizations who gerneously donated funds to see this completed:

Coast Guard Foundation, Port of Tampa, Propeller Club - Port of Tampa, Tampa Bay Pilots Association

Supporters that enabled the raising and setting of the monument, as well as restoration of benches and plaques were:

Cycadia Monument Co, Florida Department of Transportation

Thank you again to all who played a role in getting the site restored to make this year’s memorial ceremony possible, and to ensure the memory of the U.S. Coast Guard sailors lost at sea lives on.

I had the honor of speaking to the Sarasota-Manatee Council-Navy League of the US on Thursday evening to thank them for their generous donation of $3,600 that was dispersed to area Coast Guard members that were severely affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. I was able to share with them the some of the stories of how our members were impacted by their donations and how it is enabling them to remain resilient and take steps toward a return to normalcy after significant losses to personal property. To the Navy League, the Suncoast CPOA can’t thank you all enough for the action you took support our members in their most dire time of need.

On Tuesday, members from U.S. Coast Guard Sector St Petersburg, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, U.S. Coast Guard Station Sand Key, and Aids to Navigation Team St. Petersburg came together to conduct an initial cleanup of the area around the Blackthorn Memorial now that it has been reset. Representatives from the Coast Guard Foundation were present to document the effort and interview members who have received assistance from them. BZ and thank you to all involved! It was an impressive turnout from area units to ultimately honor the memories of our fallen shipmates.

Chiefsgiving 2024 at Sector St. Petersburg was a success! The Sector Chiefs Mess turned out to serve the crew and show appreciation for all the hard work they’ve done this year, and especially through this hurricane season (nine days to go to HURCON 5). Thanks to Sector’s Morale Officers for supplying the raffle gifts! The crew won gift cards, Yeti cups, air pods, and even a 50” tv! Happy Chiefsgiving!
