The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is proud to announce Chief Anthony Holloway as the recipient of the 2026 Chester James Award, honoring his dedication to leadership, public service, and community impact in St. Petersburg.

A longtime leader in law enforcement, Chief Holloway began his career with the Clearwater Police Department in 1985. After serving as Chief of Police for the City of Somerville, Massachusetts, he returned to Clearwater in 2010 before being selected as Chief of the St. Petersburg Police Department in 2014. Throughout his career, he has championed accountability, leadership, and strong relationships between law enforcement and the communities that they serve.

The Chester James Award will be presented during the 24th Annual YMCA Community Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday, October 27 at the Historic St. Petersburg Coliseum.

Our Y was well represented at the 2026 Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County OST Conference, where team members gathered with out-of-school-time professionals to learn, connect, and share ideas.

This year’s theme, “Minds of All Kinds: Powered by Different Perspectives,” focused on understanding and supporting neurodivergent children in OST programs.

The team gained valuable insights on looking beyond behavior, understanding what children may be communicating, and adapting approaches to meet individual needs.

We're excited to bring these perspectives back to the Y’s programs and continue creating inclusive experiences for every child.
