The Executive Director, Board & Staff of Pinellas Opportunity Council, Inc. extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mr. James O. Simmons, Founding President & CEO of the Pinellas County Urban League. Through his visionary leadership, unwavering dedication, and deep commitment to serving others, Mr. Simmons made a lasting impact on our community and touched countless lives. His compassion, integrity, and tireless advocacy will be remembered for years to come.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Simmons' family, friends, and the entire Pinellas County Urban League family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the many lives enriched by Mr. Simmons' extraordinary contributions.

Do you have your advance care directives in place? If not, you should attend the Free Life Planning Clinic sponsored by Bay Area Legal Services on Tues., June 23, 2026.

This community event is designed to help individuals and families take important steps toward securing their future by preparing essential legal documents. During the clinic, pro bono attorneys will be on-site to provide guidance and assistance with:
• Power of Attorney documents
• Healthcare surrogate/proxy forms
• Guardian designation forms for minor children
• General life planning guidance to help protect loved ones and make informed decisions

This is a valuable opportunity for you to receive free, one-on-one assistance in a supportive and welcoming environment, empowering you to plan ahead with confidence and peace of mind.
