We would like to gather a little before we start to get everyone signed in (so maybe like 9:45), hydrated, and briefed before we begin walking. We will start walking at 10 AM sharp, so please be respectful of everyone's time (and heat tolerance) and arrive just a little early... especially if this is your first time coming to this location as it can be tricky, even with GPS.
A few important things to remember:
1. A hat, sunscreen, and/or umbrella. There is shade along the way, but there are also spots where we are in the sun for a bit.
2. A wagon or other rolly thing... especially if you have kids. They may not want to carry their bucket the whole way, but might insist on having their own to start. :)
3. There is a little playground/park about 3/4 of the way down our mile. In addition to pauses for water along the way, we usually stop here to rest and hydrate, to let the kids play for a few minutes, and to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
4. We will coordinate for transportation from our ending point back to your vehicle at the starting point. It's a short drive. If you have a vehicle that could hold a few extra people, let me know if you'd like to help out with the shuttling at the end.
5. We will provide bottled water, gloves, buckets, and bags. We also have a few extra "pickers" but feel free to bring your own gear if you'd like.
Tell your friends to join us if they're looking for something to do. Share the event on social media and spread the word... the more the merrier!
Thank you, as always, for your support,
