DAY 5:
We had a wonderful week at PlaySmart Academy! Thank you for trusting us with your children. They made new friends and connected with current friends, they learned new sports and improved their skills in other sports, they respected the counselors and coaches, they asked great questions to our coaches and guest speakers, and we are pretty sure they all loved our trip to Chelsea Piers!
Our award winners for the "Hard Work Pillar" and "Honesty Pillar" are in the attached photos. Proud campers! Also attached are a couple of photos which show our tradition of campers and counselors signing each other's shirts.

Day 4:
We had another day on the turf, this time playing lacrosse. This was a new sport for many campers, but having the idea of today's pillar - HARD WORK - in their minds, they did a great job! 🥍
Our winners of the "Sportsmanship Pillar Award" can be seen in the photo. Proud campers!
This week the campers enjoyed engaging in fun activities in the gym with the team from Burton Fit. Three members of Burton Fit were also our guest speakers. They each shared stories of their backgrounds and how athletics helped them to become the person they currently are.
Each day this week for our Life Skills series, we had members from the Rye Youth Council (RYC) engage the campers in group activities which supported the pillar of the day. The RYC helps to support the mental health of local youth.
We had amazing volunteer counselors this year! Ask your child who their counselors were. Tomorrow is the last day of camp and it's field trip day !!!! 😄😄😄

Day 3: The proud campers of the "Teamwork Pillar Award" are shown in the attached photo 👏. We're looking forward to seeing who will be the recipients of the "Sportsmanship Pillar Award" on Thursday morning. Today, the campers spent most of the day in the gym with Coach Dave playing basketball. 🏀🏀🏀They dribbled, passed, made lay-ups, and played in friendly competitions, all while displaying good sportsmanship. They also enjoyed their second day of yoga with Alexis. From tree pose to downward dog to mindful breaths, it's wonderful to see these middle schoolers engage in their yoga practice. 🧘‍♀️🧘🧘‍♂️ Tomorrow it's some fun with lacrosse.🥍🥍🥍

DAY 2:
Each day at PlaySmart, we focus on a "Pillar of the Day." These pillars help set guidelines within our lives, like a foundation for the way one should act. Yesterday's pillar was respect. We started our morning by giving an award to a camper from each group who displayed respect throughout the day yesterday. Please see the attached photo of our winners! Today's pillar was teamwork....I wonder who will be our award winners tomorrow morning 😉.
The campers played football with enthusiasm today! We had a wonderful coach who took them through skills and drills, as well as some games and competitions. Enjoy the photos! 🏈🏈🏈

We had a great 1st day at NY PlaySmart! It was great to see returning campers and to meet our new campers. Our sport today was soccer. We had a special coaching session from some of the pro-soccer players who play for the Westchester Soccer Club team. The rain didn't stop the coaches or the campers from enjoying their time on the field. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

We’re so excited to give another group of amazing middle schoolers a FREE week of camp focused on building character, confidence, learning life skills, and making connections through our 5 pillars: Respect, Honesty, Sportsmanship, Hard Work, and Teamwork. 💪🏽🏅

At PlaySmart, we believe every kid deserves the chance to grow through sports—no matter their background. With the help of volunteers, coaches, guest speakers, mentors, and supporters like you, we’re leveling the playing field for underserved youth.

Last day of NY Academy....

Dear Families,
We had a wonderful week at PlaySmart Academy! Thank you for trusting us with your children. They made new friends and connected with current friends, they learned new sports and improved their skills in other sports, they respected the counselors and coaches, they asked great questions to our coaches and guest speakers, and we are pretty sure they all loved our trip to Chelsea Piers!

In the spring of 2025, we will send the application to you for PlaySmart 2025.

¡Tuvimos una semana maravillosa en PlaySmart Academy! Gracias por confiarnos a sus hijos. Hicieron nuevos amigos y se conectaron con amigos actuales, aprendieron nuevos deportes y mejoraron sus habilidades en otros deportes, respetaron a los consejeros y entrenadores, hicieron excelentes preguntas a nuestros entrenadores y oradores invitados, y estamos bastante seguros de que a todos les encantó nuestro viaje a ¡Chelsea Piers!
