As we gear up for the 15th Annual Cure on Wheels Moffitt Cancer Center Capitol Ride, I’m reminded that every year, something special or spiritual happens to show us why we dedicate nearly a week to raise awareness for a cancer cure. This time, it’s Holly Butcher’s letter. Holly, just 27, lost her battle with Ewing’s sarcoma in 2018, but her words—penned days before her passing—hit me deeply. I’ve been fighting my own cancer battle since November 2023, and her message resonates more than ever.

Holly urges us to cherish life’s fragility, let go of petty stresses, and embrace what truly matters: love, gratitude, and presence. She reminds us to breathe in the beauty around us, value our health, give generously, and live authentically—whether that’s chasing joy or savoring a simple moment. Her final wish? Over the past 14 years, our dedicated riders have collectively pedaled more than 150,000 miles and raised over $1.2 million to support cancer research and patient services. This year's 325-mile journey from Tampa to Tallahassee continues our mission to make a difference

What makes this ride special:
• 3 days of cycling through beautiful Florida culminating with a City of Tallahassee Police Department escorted triumphant ride to the Florida Capitol to kick off Moffitt Cancer Center Day
• Direct impact on cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center
• Support for patient and family services
• Meetings with state representatives to advocate for cancer funding
