The I Love Collard Greens 5K & Fitness Extravaganza returns Saturday, March 14 at Lake Vista Park in St. Petersburg, and registration is free. Join us for a full day of movement, wellness, and community!

Expect more than just a run. The day will feature:

• Free health screenings
• A youth basketball workshop
• A skateboard demo
• A tennis clinic
• Family fitness activities
• Music and community resources

This is a fitness festival for the whole family, with activities and experiences you won’t find at a typical 5K.

This Throwback Thursday, we’re taking it all the way back to the beginning! 🥬

February 24, 2018, the day a dream officially stepped onto the pavement.

The inaugural Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival didn’t stretch across blocks. There wasn’t a massive stage or thousands filling the streets just yet.

There was simply faith and the belief that health, fitness, and culture could turn strangers into family, that entrepreneurship could empower, and that even something as simple as cooking collards could remind us that our favorite staples can still honor tradition while embracing healthier choices.

It wasn’t massive, It wasn’t polished, but it was purposeful.

That first year planted something real. And in 2026, we stood in the shade of everything those seeds grew into our biggest celebration yet!

Thousands filled the Deuces corridor last weekend as the Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival reached a new pinnacle in St. Petersburg. What started as a small cooking competition has exploded into one of the city’s most beloved cultural gatherings - a space where food, music, history, and community pride simmer together.

Co-founders Samantha Harris and Boyzell Hosey have watched their once “crazy idea” evolve into a regional draw, with 175 vendors from across the country and crowds that many believe reached record-breaking levels. Families danced to live DJs, swapped stories over plates of Southern staples, browsed local businesses, and received free health screenings - all while celebrating Black History Month and the rich legacy of the Deuces.
