The St. Petersburg Police Department, alongside Chief Anthony Holloway and Mayor Ken Welch, presented approximately $169,785 in asset forfeiture funds to 43 local community programs working to make a difference across our city.

Mt. Zion Human Services is proud to be among the organizations selected to receive this support!

These funds are being reinvested to improve neighborhood safety, prevent crime and drug abuse, and support positive programs for children, youth, and families in our community. Thank you to the St. Petersburg Police Department, Mayor Welch, and the City of St. Petersburg for investing in programs that strengthen our community.

Today we reflect on the true history of this day. We honor and acknowledge the Indigenous peoples whose lands and lives were irrevocably impacted by colonization. As we gather with loved ones, let us center gratitude, reflection, and a commitment to justice.

We give thanks for you, the resilience of all those who came before us, and the opportunity to uplift and empower our communities. May we continue to honor history with consciousness and move forward with purpose and gratitude.

Thanksgiving Day Heavy’s will be providing 250 meals starting at 11am first come first serve.

Thanks for all you do for our community!

Thanks for all you do for our community!

In response to financial hardships resulting from the government shutdown and freezing of SNAP benefits, the Foundation announced today that it is issuing $100,000 in emergency grants to four local organizations offering residents food and emergency financial assistance.

The following four organizations will receive general operating grants to help them respond to increased local demands: Mt. Zion Human Services, Inc., Daystar Life, Metropolitan Ministries, and St. Petersburg Free Clinic

“Many of our funded partners are seeing increased demand from residents, including federal workers, who are struggling to feed their families and stay in their homes,” said Foundation President and CEO Dr. Kanika Tomalin. “In times of crisis, we respond – and so does our local nonprofit community. We’re grateful to support our funded partners working to care for our fellow residents through this difficult period.”
