Congratulations to Purple Playas on receiving a $5,000 grant from the Nexstar Charitable Foundation!

This amazing organization provides critical financial assistance and social-emotional support to families navigating the challenges of chronic pediatric illnesses. Through their work, Purple Playas Foundation serves children, teens, and young adults living with rare, complex, and chronic health conditions, helping families find hope, resources, and community when they need it most. We are grateful for their support and celebrate this well-deserved recognition!

The Purple Playas Foundation provides financial assistance and social-emotional support to families of children with chronic illnesses. Nexstar Charitable Foundation honored this nonprofit with a $5,000 grant so it can continue supporting children, teens and young adults with rare, complex and chronic pediatric conditions.

1. Can you share a short intro about yourself?
My name is Alexis, I’m 14 years old, and I'm from Jacksonville, FL.

2. When were you diagnosed with arthritis, and what type do you have?
I was diagnosed when I was 7 years old with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

3. What’s something people might be surprised to learn about how arthritis affects your daily life?
Something that people don't know about arthritis is that it makes me tired easily and I can't use my arm fully.

4. What message would you like to share for Arthritis Awareness Month?
My message for Arthritis Awareness Month is that kids can get arthritis, too!
