TODAY, WE SHINE BRIGHT: Join Ya La'Ford at the Museum of Fine Arts for a special SHINE 10 Bright Spot Community Mural Project | 📍 255 Beach Dr. NE
Ya La'ford x Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida x ARK Invest x City of St. Petersburg, Florida

After enduring Tampa Bay’s most challenging hurricane season in recent history, St. Pete Mayor Ken Welch, community leaders, and dozens of school children will join renowned artist Ya La’ford to transform the city’s waterfront with a powerful new mural. Titled “All Hands United,” the artwork symbolizes resilience, unity, and strength—with its location facing toward the bay.

“All Hands United” serves as the grand finale of the 10th annual SHINE Mural Festival in St. Pete, which was delayed due to Hurricane Milton. La’ford, who helped launch the festival a decade ago, has since gained global acclaim, working with iconic brands like Rossingnol, McLaren and Nike. La’ford is honored to create the festival’s final mural of 2024—a powerful tribute to hope and community resilience.

This is your last opportunity to celebrate 10 years of open-air gallery space in the City of St. Pete. Watch this community mural project come to life - we'll see you there!

SHINE 10 - Final Shots: Fintan Magee | Reflection St. Pete: 📍 777 3rd Ave N

This magnificent piece is one of the crown jewels of our SHINE 10 Mural Festival - Australia Artist Fintan Magee (along with the assistance of fellow Aussie Artist ) tackled two walls on our title sponsor's - Reflection St. Pete - soaring new luxury condominium, elegantly poised over historic Mirror Lake.

This mural is tinged with notes of nostalgia; a still life that feels more like a memory. What makes this piece so special and unique, is that Fintan incorporated pieces of ceramics created by local St. Pete artists from the Morean Center for Clay. Do you see the figurative statue? Or the pineapple vessel? These elements - along with many others - were carefully composed to create a poignant and reflective work of Fine Art on a massive scale.

Fintan also incorporated his beveled glass motif - a signature in many of his recent works. This creates an element of abstraction, we must peer through this distortion to discover all of this mural's hidden meanings.

Thank you Fintan and Jaz for traveling halfway across the earth to share your creativity with our sweet little city. We cannot wait to see where you travel to next!

.lopez.s

With one foot in two realms - Tampa Bay and Chicago - Cristi Lopez creates work that is soft, subtle, and ladened with symbolism. "Moo" is her contribution to SHINE 10; its her first local mural (first mural festival, ever) and 5th large-scale painting project.

From the Artist herself: "This piece is an homage to my visual and cultural influences: The Vienna Secession, Symbolist painters, Cándido Bidò, Dominican folk art and pastoral paintings, Ukiyo-e, Japonisme, Catholic Iconography, powerful women, Florida, my love for cows... 'Moo' is a love letter to all these things".

We are so thrilled to showcase Cristi's work - you can find some of her smaller, more intimate pieces on display now at in the heart of .

This is what makes SHINE so special - the opportunity for our local artists to create works alongside major players in the National and International street art movement. It is our joy to create global connections between artists, elevating their creativity and boosting their careers. We cannot wait to see where you SHINE next, Cristi!

SHINE 10 - Final Shots: Frankie G. 📍2606 Fairfield Ave S

Mercy me, it's Frankie G!

Miami-born but Tampa-based artist Frankie G got to work bright and early on his SHINE 10 mural this year - and helped us kick off the festival with bold color, lively chatter, and uplifting energy.

His mural weaves together elements of play, memory, and storytelling - honoring his Cuban heritage and memorializing a family member recently passed. Dripping with nostalgia, Frankie takes us through a personal journey that we can all find ourselves in.

This project had a special collaborative element. At the night of our SHINE 10 Kick-off Party at .art, Artist and Influencer turned herself into the living embodiment of Frankie's mural - even including a paper airplane fascinator! Be sure to follow Abby and catch a glimpse of her creative process. Shout out to for facilitating this collab.

SHINE 10 - Final Shots: NeSpoon 📍601 24th St S .nespoon

With love and lace, Nes NeSpoon graces our fair city with her intricate, intertwining, looping patterns. NeSpoon transcends the realm of decorative arts, creating a delicate yet larger-than-life visual experience that captures stories in it's web.

Look closely - do you see a swirling pattern? NeSpoon pays tribute to our tumultuous tropical weather by including a little reference to the beautiful and cruel storms that swept through our state (which, almost dismanted our entire SHINE 10 festival). There is so much beauty and empowerment in taking this twirling storm and integrating it into such a unique piece of lacework.

We are so grateful to NeSpoon and her partner for bringing their work to St. Pete - safe travels as you continue to bring your beauty everywhere in the world you go!

Bold, elegant, graphic, and dimensional - this perfectly sums up the collaborative mural team of Up & Over. Comprised of Tampa-based artist - Tes One - and those mural mercenaries over at the Vitale Bros - Up & Over aims to punch up vibrancy throughout the Tampa Bay area.

It's an absolute honor to finally showcase on of the founders of the SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival - Tes One. A graduate of the Art Magnet program at Gibbs High School (PCCA), Tes' mural work can be found throughout St. Pete and Tampa. We are so grateful for all the grassroots effort of the original SHINE team that has led to this moment - the 10th Anniversary of transforming St. Pete into a giant open air gallery/museum.

A very special shoutout to Artist and Muralist - Aaron Tullo - who's helping hands brought this mural to life under the Vitale Bros. moniker. He's a breakout star, with mural work found throughout Tampa Bay. Be sure to follow .tullo - we cannot wait to see where he's painting next!

SHINE 10 - Final Shots: Abys📍201 17th St S
[BONUS:📍501 16th St S]

All the way from Nancy, France, shines Abys - bringing outrageous colors and clean crisp craftsmanship to our little slice of paradise. In record time, Abys finished not one but TWO murals for our temperate tropical climate (and even had time for a quick trip to Weeki Wachee Spring to really soak up the full Florida vibes).

"Surf's Up" perfectly captures the weird and wacky parts of our strange state - where gators roam free, the citrus is fresh and bright, and all of our residents are just a bit wild and untamed.

Look closely - Abys is the master at hiding extra little "easter eggs" within his work - can you find the official SHINE 10 Logo by on the bottom of the surfboard? How about the dolphin tattoo on his belly?

Abys busted out this tall gator on the backside of the Modera Apartments of St. Pete. With time to kill and extra paint on his hands, Abys gifted us a very special second mural on the back of - a crusty crab that perfectly compliments his reptilian counterpart. More surprises to be found on this piece - but you'll just have to go discover it yourself!

Thank you for kicking off SHINE a little early, Abys! It was a pleasure hosting you on our sandy shores, and we cannot wait to see what you create next.

SHINE 10 - Final Shots: Naomi Haverland📍 700 2nd Ave NE

A colorful microscopic ecosystem bursts to life on the first-ever mural on the St. Pete Pier. Presented by the City of St. Petersburg at the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center.

Artist Naomi Haverland explores the world of plankton - observing the biodiversity of our Tampa Bay waters under powerful microscopes located inside the Discovery Center. Taking this research, Naomi creates a halo of these itty bitty critters - a larger-than-life composition that highlights their beauty and critical role to our natural ecosystem.

Come check out this Plankon Party at the Pier!

Stevie Shao blesses our city with a soaring symbol of good fortune and strength, on two sides of the Volunteers of America's 'Innovare' building - an innovative affordable housing opportunity in the heart of St. Pete.

A guardian of water and wind, this Dragon playfully swoops among the swallows - its eyes set on the western horizon, chasing after the sunset.

Visit Stevie's mural on your way to Roser Park, connecting to our South St Pete neighborhoods.
