Congratulations to Rachel Catalldo on her nomination for Resiliency Delivered with Heart! Check out the nomination that was written about her.
I am nominating Rachel Cataldo of the Gulfport Senior Center for the Resiliency Delivered with Heart Award because of the innovative ways that she kept the senior community of Gulfport connected during the Pandemic. The Gulfport Senior Center, like all other Senior Centers, was forced to close for quite a long time during the pandemic but this did not stop Rachel from coming up with innovative ways to keep the seniors in Gulfport and beyond active and connected to the Gulfport Senior Center. Rachel went way above and beyond her duties as the Director of the Gulfport Senior Center. She made sure that the food pantry at the Senior Center was well-stocked during the pandemic and that seniors in need were able to stop by the Senior Center (with masks and social distancing always a priority) or were delivered food so they could keep their cupboards stocked. Rachel reached out to the Gulfport Senior Center Foundation to let the Foundation know about the needs of the Senior Center during the pandemic, which included the need for video equipment so that classes could continue on-line while in-person classes were not possible, to help keep the food pantry filled and thinking ahead to the needs of the Senior Center when it would re-open for things like touchless water fountains. Rachel made sure that as many classes as possible were made available on-line during the pandemic, which kept seniors that were accustomed to attending classes and events at the Senior Center engaged during the long months of isolation. Rachel also made extra efforts to reach out to Seniors through the Gulfport Senior Center’s Reassurance telephone program, providing daily calls to check on the well-being of seniors and giving them the reassurance that was so crucial during what felt like endless months until the Senior Center could resume normal operations. Rachel also made sure that the Gulfport Senior Center could be reopened safely as soon as practical and has made every effort to once again engage our seniors, both in person, on-line and through phone calls. I am sure there are hundreds of senior residents that would agree that Rachel is deserving of the Resiliency Delivered with Heart Award this year!

Big Congratulations to Barbara for winning this year's Advocacy Delivered with Heart Award. Here is the nomination that was submitted about her,
Barbara Posey, her tittle at Pasadena Community Church is Congregational Care. She is paid to help the congregation of 1000 member church. It is so much deeper in the community. We are an aging church, Barbara will learn about new grants, businesses, assistance, any new help that is out there for all of us. Barbara being a women of encouragement has her congregation helping the cause. Someone with an ear to hear, or arms to hug or food to give. What is the need? Barbara will connect people, phone, food, a place to live. She is a master at making something out of nothing. I don't have a story. Barbara has lead a class for caregiver Alzheimer's support group for decades. We do not all struggle the same. Barbara helps in ways unseen. One women was about to leave her husband, now he is sick she cant leave. No one understands her situation! Barbara does. I was going to place Barbara under support and volunteerism. She is our rock who has time to lift us up so we can keep helping others. Please consider Barbara she is an unsung hero who is constantly trying to do more.
