Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association

Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association Welcome to the official page of the Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association! Petersburg, Florida. and west from I-275 to 34th Street N.

Historic Kenwood is a wonderful neighborhood within the great Sunshine City of the Arts, St. It has been chosen as the "2020 National Neighborhood of the Year" by Neighborhoods USA. This vibrant "porch community" made up of quaint cottages and bungalows is the largest concentration of such in the nation. It is a place of involved residents that take great pride in knowing their neighbors, a great

feat considering there are 1,800 homes withing its four quadrants - Upper West, Upper East, Lower West, and Lower East. The Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association (HKNA) produces several ticketed fundraising events throughout the year that are open to the general public. "BungalowFest" and "Pinot in the Park" among them sell out within two or three days of going on sale. The diversity of its residents, young and "vintage," LGBTQIA+, straight, and every color of the rainbow is something that is not only coveted but embraced and celebrated daily. This vibrant and colorful Artist Enclave Neighborhood is centrally located within the highest part of the peninsula. Historic Kenwood borders north of Central Avenue to just south of 9th Avenue N. The City Council will hold a vote on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Overlay on Thursday, May 14th at 5 p.m. at St. Petersburg City Hall, located at 175 5th St N.

The City of St. Petersburg is expediting two significant zoning proposals that are closely linked to the new BRT Overlay. These proposals will have a direct impact on The Grand Central District, Historic Kenwood, and Palmetto Park Neighborhood Association as neighborhoods.

The proposed changes include:

- Proposal 1: The elimination of all required parking within the BRT Overlay District, which spans from 1st Ave N to 1st Ave S.
- Proposal 2: The removal of parking requirements for developments located within a quarter-mile of BRT stations, including stations at 22nd St and 31st St.

Get involved in the process! Attend the meeting and express your opinions to the City Council. You can make a statement in person or send an email to the City Council Administrative Officer at [email protected]. Alternatively, you can send a general message to [email protected]. When emailing, ensure that you specify that you would like your message to be distributed to all council members.
