Our 2026 International Day of Peace celebration was our most successful yet, and it wouldn’t have been possible without YOU!

From our Peace Walk and community events to the many individuals and organizations spreading messages of Love, Peace, and Sustainability, you helped bring our community together around the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals as a pathway to Peace.

This year also marked a historic milestone for The Global Love Project: Mayor Kenneth T. Welch officially proclaimed September 21st as International Day of Peace in St. Petersburg, recognizing our leadership in organizing a citywide celebration. A first for our city and our organization!

We’re deeply grateful to every partner, participant, artist, volunteer, and community member who helped make this year so meaningful. The work of building a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world continues all year long, and we’re honored to be part of it with you.

Peace Begins With Us 🕊️

Thank You Mayor Ken Welch For@Proclaiming September 21st As International Day Of Peace In St. Petersburg Fl. Thank You Also For Recognizing The Global Love Project 501c3 Efforts To Bring Awareness To This Holiday And All Of Those Working To Make Our City A More Sustainable Place City of St. Petersburg.

The Proclamation Reads:

WHEREAS, The City of St. Petersburg is committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive,
and connected community that promotes peace, creativity, sustainability, and civic engagement; and

WHEREAS, The International Day of Peace, observed annually on September 21st
and established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981, serves as a global call for nonviolence, unity, and collective action toward a more peaceful and sustainable world; and

WHEREAS, The Global Love Project is organizing a city-wide celebration of
International Day of Peace, engaging residents, businesses, and organizations in St. Petersburg.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kenneth T. Welch, Mayor of the City of St. Petersburg, Florida, do hereby proclaim Monday, September 21, 2026, as

International Day of Peace

in St. Petersburg and encourage residents, businesses, artists, and organizations to participate in activities that promote peace, compassion, sustainability, and unity within our community and beyond.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the official Seal of the City of St. Petersburg, County of Pinellas, and State Florida to be affixed this 21st day of September 2026.
